E90 lci 330d white smoke & revs dropping on startup

Hi all,

I have a very odd problem...

On startups... generally, cold starts.

My car struggles to idle. The revs drop, and if I press the accelerator, they continue to drop and almost stutter. Along with this is a plume of white smoke.

It's been suggested it's a leaking injector. Any ideas on how to diagnose?

Does it do this once your car has warmed up, if it's ONLY on cold initial start it could be glow plug related or glow plug relay, I am sure a leaking injector would not only give you an erratic idle just on cold start but would also be relevant in the drive after been warmed up surely?

Happening more and more now. The theory re the injector is that it slowly leaks into the cylinder over night while standing

Check if there's a Bosch service centre near you that can service your injectors. They clean them out ultra sonically, and change the filter and o rings... They should tell you what the flow rate is per injector etc

Can't service these injectors.

About R6k each.

They can test for R350 each. So will pull them and have them test

Had an oil leak from the tapped cover.

Replaced gasket and injector gaskets.

Also did a mechanical egr delete. I guess it's already deleted in SW.

Injectors went for testing. They're all fairly okay. They did clean them. But can't rebuild them.

The problem seems to be fixed. Did it all at once as the injectors come out anyway with the gasket changes. So can't pin point the issue.
