Finally!
Anyone that knows me, knows how 'B58' is a frequently used part of my vocabulary. I have loved these engines for years, and even though I am not a speed freak, my ears are very well-tuned for the glorious sound they make. To me, B58 is the one!
As I do, I spend a lot of time and money making my cars better than when I got them, and then overnight end up selling them - so when this is up for sale in a few years, jump, haha!
Long story short, I was with a friend in his 140i, and it rekindled the WANT. I got looking and found one. Estoril blue. Fortunately, before it was too late, a close friend phoned me and said, he's found one even better - jump on this deal! I did.
So a little over a month ago, I was blessed enough to be able to bring home a 340i. Basically the twin of my previous 330d.
I love the f30 platform. Its practical, I love the lines, and it makes sense to me. My 330d was perfect, it just missed that key component under the hood.
I have subsequently discovered that I have over R140 000 of extras on my new baby - which is a total score for me!
A few key highlights and extras fitted:
She also has some neat M performance parts fitted (I checked to make sure they are all OEM) - Front Splitter, Side Skirts, and even M-performance floor mats!
Safe to say I am totally in love
Had her for just over a month - and every drive is like the first. The power delivery is incredible - super different to the torquey N57 - and at first felt 'slower', but it's a lot, LOT faster. I noticed that once they hit 100km/h they pull even more than before (all the way to 120km/h speed limit of course). The 6wb in sport mode is engaging and fun, and the different driving profiles really make it a totally different car.
Fuel - let's not even go there. If you travel a lot, DO NOT GET a B58
330d fuel bill x4. Fortunately, I don't travel a lot, but it still is a big adjustment!
What's next?

A few key highlights and extras fitted:
- MPPSK (this is MEGA! The exhaust is incredible. How BM got it right I do not know. There are no silencers except for the rear box (compared to the MPE exhaust that is just a back box with a single valve, and has mid pipe res + silencer), and yet no drone when the dual, electronic valves are closed. Open them, and you straight pipe the car and have a glorious amount of burbles from the custom ECU tune. Also quite rare, so I'm very chuffed!)
- 6WB digital cluster. Its worth the hype. Every bit of it!
- OEM M-Performance Blackline tail lights
- BMW connected Eye 2.0 (super random, but I imagine very uncommon. It's a front and rear-facing camera)
- Heated Seats (+electronic - but the electronic part is standard in 340i)
- Reverse camera
- Harmon Kardon Sound - DUH!
- Professional Nav (iDrive5 is a nice upgrade from the previous version that I am used to)
- All the other usual nice to haves are of course specced as well

What's next?
- Paddle shifter replacements already fitted - more F80-like. They look better and feel better.
- PAINT CORRECTION - what better way to spend the long weekend than making the paint flawless? This is a massive job, but the swirls make me sad, and I cannot deal. I'll post updates after this. I will ceramic coat as well during this time.
- Black rear boot badge - current 'charbohn fibrah' is yuck.
- Rear diffuser + new spoiler - contemplating options, nothing decided yet.
- Mirror caps are gloss black now already - need to take more pics.
- MHD/BM3 + XHP - Likely, but it's a balancing act between car mods and saving for a wedding.
