Hi all. Can someone who bought a new one please confirm for me:
Did pre-LCI (2017-2021) X3s come with a first aid kit and warning triangle? I just bought a used one and those 2 items are missing.
Also, how many luggage lashing eyes came with it? Mine has 2, my old X3 had 4.

Also do they come with a toolkit?

Edit: the triangle is there. First aid kit not.

Hi

I bought my 2018 X3 20d used from BMW Sandton last year.

They put a new first aid kit in it, seeing that the previous owner did not leave it behind.

I also noted the missing lashing eyes and cargo net (both the net that holds down your luggage and the other net that divides the cargo area from the cabin) when I test drove the car. The included both nets and 4 lashing eyes on delivery.

You should ask the dealer to provide same.

Also push for rubber mats all round.

Thanks I got the net that divides boot from passengers. I didn't know that there's another one. Will ask them for it!

Far as the rubber mats go, I've already taken delivery so I'm not sure they'll be too accommodating🤦

Anything on the toolkit? Does the car even have one? My F32 doesn't, just the tow hook and lock nut.

I ordered a spare wheel and tool kit with jack.

The locknut key should be in the boot.

If you don't have a spare wheel, they should have included the air compressor refill kit in the boot.

Lashing eye. There are 4.

Cargo net that attaches to the lashing eyes. My spare wheel was not standard - I bought it from BMW parts.

Thanks. Air compressor kit is another thing I hadn't thought of!!
Locknut key I have. So looks like toolkit is not standard, that's fine.
I can't understand why there would be 2 lashing eyes missing🤦

Besides these things which all seem to be boot accessories (I'm guessing they emptied the boot for some reason and then just never put everything back!), Is there anything elsewhere in the car that I should check? I've already picked up that the lighter is missing in front.

1. Owner's handbook/manual
2. Compressor kit (just check that the tyre sealant liquid, that is included, is not expired)
3. 4 lashing eyes (these can slide and be removed from the track)
4. Cargo net that attaches to the 4 lashing eyes
5. First aid kit
6. Spare key (check that it works)

My personal view is that a spare wheel is a must, but that needs to be ordered from BMW parts department (can't recall the cost). They will include the jack and tools. If you travel long distance where runflats may not last the distance if damaged, or if you crack a wheel rim and need to wait for BMW Roadside assistance, then a space saver spare wheel is invaluable.

Also, check if the Connected Drive has been linked to your name, so you can login and get the MyBMW app on your phone.

So regarding the connected drive, I've got it set up on my phone BUT it says I have no subscription. Salesman said he'll call BMW during the week. I know real time traffic etc expires, but it should report car status etc without a subs right?

You can log in here to see what services are active and when they expire on your car:

The navigation and live traffic are not worth it - Google Maps on your phone is much better.

Ya according to that only emergency call, Teleservices and smartphone is active. Makes no sense.

I'll tell you what the biggest waste of money is, is Concierge services🤣 And BMW insists on adding it to all their cars at a cost or R3500 or something like that. Apparently some people are so lazy\dumb that they can't just google what hotel is available🤣🤣

So the BMW guy checked and apparently all the used X3s on his floor only have 2 lashing eyes. Can someone who bought a NEW X3 please confirm for me whether they got 2 or 4?

I checked the owner's manual. Here is the story...

There are 4 fixed lashing eyes and only 2 moveable/slidable (though these can be locked in place) lashing eyes as standard. It seems that my salesman threw in 2 extra moveable lashing eyes (for free) so that my spare wheel could be mounted conveniently.

So, long story short, as standard there are only 2 moveable lashing eyes. Sorry for the confusion - I blame my excellent salesman who didn't tell me that he did all these extras for free:)

Yeah I also called BMW and asked a new car salesman about it. Seems that and the cargo net are not standard, so you scored lol. Anyway I'm not too fussed, as long as I get the stuff that's supposed to be in the car I'm happy.

My salesman is not as useful as yours. They're even giving me a hard time about the mobility kit🤦 Reckon it's a used car, whatever it comes with, it comes with. But at least they found a first aid kit for me.
If anyone's interested it's BMW Fourways. They're doing what needs to be done, but not going the extra mile I feel.....

The mobility kit is standard fitment on all G01 X3s that do not come standard with the space saver spare wheel. If you have no standard fitment spare wheel, then the mobility kit needs to be included. See spec sheet below...

The car is an approved used BMW, which means that it must be sold with the same specs as if it was sold new.

I would raise a fuss with the dealer...

Yup if they don't give it to me I am for sure going to make a noise. That's exactly what I told them - that it's part of the safety features and if the previous owner didn't give it to them it's their responsibility to either get it from him or replace it.

Wow? Ok, I bought a g01 x3 (2021) last November , and my sales guy made sure everything was there , the nets, the nets attached to bars, first aid, compressor kit, towing adapter, tow bar power adapter za everything , but then again, I been dealing with my guy a while, and he’s very pedantic as well

So they're replacing all the missing stuff incl the mobility kit👍 Unfortunately I ran out of luck with the extra lashing eyes lol. Didn't even ask about the rubber mats.
