I tried changing the injector on cylinder 6 yesterday, no change. Going to check the plug again, apparently some guys had issues where they received a faulty brand new plug.

I also replaced the injector on 6 without any change in behavior. Not sure if I'm glad we are having the same issue or not...

I'll try to change the plug gap to 0.46mm either tonight or tomorrow night and let you know.

So it turned out to be a faulty plug, replaced it and moving like a dream.

Glad yours is running again man!

I'm gathering you only replaced one plug, and if so, did you only replace cylinder 6's?
Which plugs do you currently have thats functioning properly?
and lastly, what are they gapped to?

My solutions are starting to get hazy as I've tried so many things!

Yup only replaced the one. Using the ZR5TPP33S, stock gap. Doubt it makes a difference but the one that died (and the other 5 that are still inside) are from Goldwagen and the one I replaced now is from BMW.

Did you delete the error codes after troubleshooting with the old plugs? Because once the engine light comes on it switches off the injector on cylinder 6.

I cannot recall if I did, the more I think about it, the more I doubt it

If my plug turns out to be dead, they are all from BMW, and I'll be very annoyed as these plugs are ludicrously priced!

Cylinder 6's plug you say?

Try changing the plug and clear the codes. I used MHD to clear it. Get your plugs from Goldwagen, it's R175 each vs R292 from the dealer. They are identical except for the BMW logo.

So.... Its fixed.

Plug six, replaced with a goldwagen plug. Cleared the codes, and off she goes again.

I've been pondering why the heck did I not get the same result when putting back the original plugs, and I can only summize that I forgot to clear the error codes before going for a drive. I guess I calmed down to a panic, and that's not good for sanity.

Well, that reign of stupidity sent me on a wild misfire goose chase, and cost me a few K rand in parts. But alas, I think ill write it down as school fees.

Funny enough, I'm so salted in stripping the top of the engine, I can do it whilst still hot, and in a measly 12 mins to get to the plugs :D

Lessons learnt, and I'm very happy again with the be-em!

Thanks guys for all the inputs, you ou's rock!

I have the exact same issue, except I also have fuel mixture lean and valvetronic disabled.

Have you replaced the plug on cyl 5 yet?

I am new around here.

I thought I should add to this as it helped greatly, too bad I found it a little late, let me explain.

Bought a 2015 F30 335i in August 2021.

I had a slight misfire/hestiation on idle, which kept getting worse. I didn't scan it as it wasn't severe and I planned to get fresh plugs with the oil change anyway.

I swapped in fresh NGKs (silzkbr8d8s). When I removed the OE plugs, I noticed that cyl3s plug was darker, even around the threads. Some research indicated a possible injector leak, i figured that was probably the reason for the "slight" misfire/ hesitation on idle.

Started the car with the fresh NGKs. I had a terrible (car shakes, Drivetrain malfunction message, etc) misfire. Scanned with ISTA+ and cyl 3 was the culprit. Swapped coils around, still cyl3.

So I went to the next step and worked on getting a new Bosch injector from Goldwagen and ordered the necessary tools. Installed it and I still had a misfire on 3.

At this point I was also stumped. I came across this thread so I decided to swap out the plug from cyl3 with cyl4 and the misfire moved to 4.

Never in my mind would I have imagined that a new plug could be faulty, I guess we learn everyday. I got a replacement from Midas and the car is in great shape.

Thanks for the thread guys, it helped.

Funny enough guys, I changed mine to NGK Iridium 2 and it got the morning shakes ha ha aka. misfires in the morning...didn't think it was spark plugs however I cleaned the MAF and that worked for a day or two...then cleaned the air-filter and it seemed to help a lot...still got a misfire the other morning again but not as frequent as before...basically just that once.

My errors are/were air mass plausibility too high and another error saying air mass plausibility too low (on my N55). So my next thing to look at now is a new MAF sensor. I will check the car if any misfire errors come up on a specific cylinder and follow your advice above. Thanks for the insights guys!

Are able to tell which cylinder(s) are misfiring?
Cylinder 6 misfire, I initially gave the vehicle to bmw of which they replaced injector 6, vehicle still did the same thing, thereafter they informed me of a new engine Stating the engine had been worked on before, I than took it to my local mechanic who worked at bmw before checked the car decided to open the engine, after opening they picked up the cam lobe on cylinder 6 was damaged and we replaced and re done the valves as they got hurt, in the same time we replaced cam eccentric shaft and sensor as it idled smooth with engine light, after we did the cam eccentric shaft it went back to initial issue so vehicle had very little fuel, we filled fuel cleaned the injectors to ensure it wasn't jammed or clogged and re fitted, it done the same cylinder 6 misfire, so he re opened the engine took the head to see if the valves are fine and they are fine so his going to test it tomorrow

Consider checking the T-MAP/MAP & MAF sensors like the other guys said. Maybe there’s something not pluged in correctly or damaged
