F30 stage 1 expectations

Afternoon guys, newbie here. I would really appreciate some rational advice...
What is an expected Nm increase for a stage 1 remap.
2014 F30 330d M-sport, 45 000 kms, no other mods, recently serviced, no boost leaks. Used for fast road use, no racing/dragging.
I was hoping for 640 Nm-am I being too optimistic?
Thanks 🙂

You will get 5-10% on tope of your base wheel power. Are you hoping for 640nm on the wheels or on the fly. On the wheels will be a bit hard to get that with Stage 1 only. with DP and Stage 2 - you can crank it up and get closer to that or even over it in fact for sure.

I have seen an F30 330d get 230+ & high 600 - 700wnm with DP and Stage 2 tune.

I got about 640Nm with a mild map by Kosie Swanepoel Developments on my previous 3l d F25 X3 (basically the same motor) No hassles. Nice gain in torque without worries. Car has done about 50k kms with the tune and no problems apart from egr staying open and burning holes in the inlet manifold. Did an egr delete and egr ecu delete and no problems . Of course, did knock out the cat (btw, you can get nice Coca Cola money for the internals of the cat) and took out the swirl flaps.

Thanks- I was hoping for at the wheels-so on the dyno. Is Stage 2 just a downpipe-decatted with an adjusted map so would that give a max of 15Nm..and a better exhaust note?

OK that's reassuring 🙂 I was going to get some more mileage on the engine before decatting as I don't think there will be too much of an obstruction just yet, maybe from 80 000 kms onwards? Keeping the old cat sounds like a plan, I may put it back in for a fussy buyer if I sell
Thanks !

45k kms for an 8 year old diesel is proper low miles.

Not sure how long you have had the car...those miles indicate that the car didnt really do long distance?

You would most likely find that the cat isn't in the best condition. I suggest getting a base line dyno done and compare to other 330ds to gauge.

However, it is recommended to get a DP and stage 2. This will get you over 220wkw and 700wnm.

Also...don't forget to get xhp stage 2 or 3...I'd say this is a must to bump up the line pressure within the gearbox as well as limit the torque in the first and second gears.

Having done plenty of these for other Fanatics we can comment on this.

These cars stock make around 165-170kw & 480-520nm on the wheels on our dyno in Johannesburg.

Your CAT/DPF is most likely clogged given the age and own mileage of your car.

Simply put, more boost equates to more torque.

The stage 2 cars we do gain anywhere from 45-65kw & 100-150nm on the wheels and run hassle free.

With just software mild stage 1 map anything more than 30kw & 60nm gain you are asking for trouble in the long run.

Thanks for the input 👍
I used to take it for a good burn on the freeway-180/200 kms every other week otherwise just local short trips..work is close.
So stage 2 is just mapping it to accept the new DP? or is there something more that happens?
Heard about the g.box flashes but I am still gathering info so it's good to know where it fits in 🙂

Thanks for the heads up on the cat probably being clogged sounds like it goes hand in hand with the stage 1 remap 👍

Hi yes, Downpipe replaces your CAT and enables better turbo spool and flow especially with higher torque and longevity of the turbo (without trying to repeat with Riaad has correctly already eluded too).

Your expectations are very realistic. At altitude as well.
Get a downpipe done when you can.
