Hi Guys,

I see these cobra springs for sale at Autostyle for R3995. Cobra Lowering Kit for Bmw F30 (30/30mm)

Have any of the members used these on a f30 with Msport suspension on at all?

How is the ride quality on these in comparison the more popular H&R and Eibach springs?

No experience with Cobra, but at the price I would be inclined to spend a bit more and go H&R..

Hi,

If you're keen on H&R, pop me a PM and I'll give you some pricing on options.

I would just be wary of these cheap kits flooding the market. I've personally seen a set of cheap Coilovers fail after 6 months - as in the thread of the front shock mounting stripped, and rear shocks / springs collapsed completely.

I've got H&R/Koni fitted to my Ute and they have been great.

Thanks for the response, I will PM you regarding the H&r,  I understand the difference when It comes to the coilovers situation

But specifically for the springs, I've had H&r and eibach  springs on a few cars.. But can they justify almost being double the price of the cobras?

I mean unless the cobra is made of inferior grades of alloys I don't see how they can be so much worse and it seems to be a European reputable brand??

I'm just asking the question I know H&r is the way to go but sometimes we have to question.

The AC schnitzers seem to have good reviews but I'm sure it's over R10k.. These cobras are going for R3700.. Unless there is some horror stories I'm leaning towards trying them out.. They made in the Netherlands how bad can they be?? This front 3 finger wheel gap is not working out and budget is bit bleak.

They’re approx. R6000-R6500 depending on the kit (for the F30)

Personally I would just bite the bullet and go H&R at R2k more, you can always remove these before sale time and recoup some funds by selling them on. If the price difference was 2 or 3 times more, then I would give the Cobra ones a shot.

Not sure what the second-hand market is like for Cobra springs, but I know H&R will move fairly quicker.

The bullets are finished my bra.. Nothing left to bite for this year :roflol:

H&ar are now going for close to 7k and this 3500 for essentially same thing. I'm gna try them out and see, always good to try new things sometimes. They even have a specific spring for the 4 cyl and 6cyl respectively on the f30.. Will give a review if I manage to get them..

I've watched this thread and it's interesting how people decide that certain products are the be all and end all of everything.

I installed a set of Cobra springs on my now ex E90 335 and, paired with the koni orange shocks that the previous owner had fitted, the car was compliant, settled and the steering was just that little bit sharper.

I did about 3000km in the couple of weeks the springs were on the car and I will say that it didn't like extremely bumpy surfaces (like all of Roodepoort) but once in civilization it drove very nicely, and that was on the 18inch run flats.

https://www.cobra-suspension.com/

They've been in the business quite some time and are definitely not the cheapest springs you can buy and having driven all sorts, I would definitely consider it for a future car should the need arise.

One new problem now is that cobra has a 40mm for the
6 cyl engine allround and I was hoping for 30mm only .. So will have to wait till there is money one day for H&r sport which is 30mm allround.. These m4 wheels poke so back will touch with 40mm unless I step down tyre to 255 instead of 275 that's on now

So while doing some search on Cobra Springs i bumped into this thread, and i thought i should give an input. I've just fitted the 40mm Cobra springs on my 2012 F30 320d Sportline, with stock/OEM shock absorbers. This was a more affordable option at this point as i actually wanted the H&R Sport springs, which i think offer a much better drop (IMO), especially on non-M-sport BMW. I changed front shocks about a year and half ago, then changed the rear ones 3 days ago, along with fitting these cobra springs.

I will give an update on how quick the shocks wear, & how the car handles full load. I'm planning to lift the rear a little, (maybe by 10mm or so), as i find it too low. If anyone knows of a proper way of doing that please let me know. I've been searching, maybe some thicker rubber that will sit on the edge of the spring will do.
