What’s our take on Sunset Orange on G20

I have been considering changing into a G20 and wanted to get the some thoughts on Sunset Orange as a colour. Take the point fully that beauty is the eye of the beholder but wanted to hear thoughts on this colour.

I was close to pulling the trigger on this m340i but was not convinced on the colour

When I see one on the road I think it looks stunning. When I’m browsing for a new car I feel I won’t like it for the next 5 years of driving it.

Thanks for the perspective. That makes a lot of sense. I never considered if I would like the colour a few years from now. I had mostly white cars and my current mineral grey M2 (which I think is brilliant). Safe options i guess from a colour perspective

Did you notice that it was marked for 859k....and 2 days later they pushed it up to 959k.....

As for the color i like it. So if you go for it just remember they have alot of room on the price. I called for it on day 1 but location was a problem.

I personally like it very much, it's bold enough to be a bit different than the "usual" or more subdued colours without being too in your face, like a Ford ST orange is for example. I think it looks a lot like the M6 in Sakhir. Red primary with black trim usually looks quite sporty and this makes it a bit more exotic with the same scheme. It also does a great job of changing colour in shade/overcast conditions and direct sunlight and shows the G20 lines very well. No negatives from me

The Sunset Red colour is one of either like it or you dont. Seems to me like you are colour but looking for perspectives which can help sway your mind however end of the day its what you will have to deal with and regret is such a biatch lol.

You are biased in the White cars and Grey colour with the M2 (especially Mineral Grey is a really good colour and I will be biased anyday with that too)...my motto - If I have to think twice about it then I rather just leave it because somewhere down the line, the regret bug will bite.

Check @Quick///M's M340i, that Mineral Grey is such a beaut. IMO - I love ths Sunset Red on an M2 Comp and the F20 but on the bigger car...it seems like it is a bit too bold or a novelty-related colour.

But dude, also if you like the car still and its a banger of adeal...you can still get it wrapped too as a thought?

Mate don’t even go there. I called as well, I was planning on flying down to check it out. We went the whole day agreeing logistics and I was almost there. They then sent me the OTP at a much higher price.

Queried immediately and they explained the system glitch in advertising ex vat erroneously. It is then changed overnight.

They have had a few calls with me to get me over line and offered me a lower price than advertised. The colour is what kept me on the fence

Nonsence.... I saw an F80 M3 comp at Bmw fountains last week. Called in and confirmed price any everything. Sales guy said i must hurry because there is lots of interest in it. Eventually decided its not the car for me. Next day boom. price gone up.

Thanks AshG
Great perspective. If you thinking twice perhaps that’s the flag. It’s also the balance of buying with head vs heart. Problem is when they drop the price and the heads starts taking over

Interesting - two weeks ago they had a black m340i they did the same thing. I called in when I saw the car for like R880k and then they said it was sold. It went for R970k per the salesman - he also talked about a Vat error.
Looks like a new tactic from dealerships

That a good point - eye of the beholder plays it’s part. My wife likes it more than I do.

I would take this colour in a heartbeat.. As much as I love white cars, they are pretty damn common.

I always liked the Valencia Orange on the F30 and feel the same about the Sunset Orange on the G20. I've seen too many white and grey G20's, seems to be standard colour palette.

I like the colour. It stands out and I feel like the G20 is one of the nicer looking/balanced new BMWs so having it in a lighter or more vibrant colour works. To be honest, I wanted an all-white garage at some point (all the evidence was there LOL I even lost out on decent M2C pricing waiting for Alpine White ones).

I think your opinion/bias will change over time. Right now, I don't think I will do another white car other than my pearl white 4C for a long time to come.

There is a lot to appreciate with the fancier colours (and the pictures don't capture it all). This goes for nearly all metallic colours - this is why you browse and don't quite feel it, yet when you see one, it tugs on the heart strings. Dravit Grey is another example - you might write it off just looking at the pics of it or even a small swatch at the dealer. You have to do all manner of editing to the pic and it still looks NOTHING like it does in real life or in different kinds of light.

As for that sales tactic, it is just a new form of bait and switch.

Next time you on the freeway just observe how many grey, silver and white cars are on the road.
The sunset orange is unique and stands out.

This is definitely another tactic dealers are using.
When I bought my Ranger DC last year another tactic they using is to advertise a particular vehicle at a decent price, when you call they say sorry that one is sold but they have another one, later model, lower mileage same spec yadayadayada that they can get you into, obviously at a higher price. In fact there is a Ranger I called for in March Last year that I was told was sold, but till today that same add is still up on Gumtree and Carfind:rolleyes:
