Anyone know what the official RPM our Z4M's are limited at ?
I've read a few different numbers.

Mine seems to be at 7600 Rpm.

should be 8200rpm atleast 8000rpm... if the engine is properly warm there should be an orange indicator from 7500 - 8000rpm, you should be able to rev it past that and up just before the first red one which is at about 8000rpm ...

7800rpm in 1st and 7900 the rest if I still remember correctly. Will show 8000rpm on counter

Sounds about right for the S54 motor. If it goes past 8000rpm someone has played with your ecu file. It will get logged and bmw will now about it.

Which Z4M you talking about? E85/6 or E89?

The turbo or non turbo?

Mine definitely runs past 7600...
Suspect it is limiting... Get her plugged into a diag machine to see if you are in one of the limp modes.

The Z3 with the S54 has a 7600 rpm redline and the Z4 with the S54 has an 8000 rpm redline.

my car is heavily modded.
Cams, induction, decat exhaust .
I've had the car on a dyno and it given me 7600 rpm limiter on some days and on others 7900 rpm.
so i see the 7600 limiter is a safety feature. i had a few errors so i understand that. Great ! ( i taught the car was maybe limited to 7600 and the tuned file got it to 7900.) but thats clear now.
Problem is that tuners cannot raise the limiter on this f$@king car.
I'm on my second tuner and both cannot understand why the car wont rev above 7900 rpm.
No faults are being picked up on the ECU.

:argh:

Can we give it a try? :=):

Stock std rev limiter on a S54B32 engine /Siemens DME sits at exactly 7560 rpm and conditional at 8220 rpm

I just read a stock file just to make sure before I post

What would you like it to rev?

Ok here's a curveball.
So you say 7650 rpm ?
I dont understand the conditional part .
Under what conditions will it rev to 8220 ?
Ive neva seen my car rev so high.
Alot of literature says 8000 rpm .

Ive seen a CSL rev to 8500 rpm and make power up ther.
But id be happy with 8200 or 8300 rpm .

is the ECU not cutting RPM because it sees something its not happy with?

its not throwing any codes .....

Maybe use another tuner? My tuner could raise it to 8200 no probs. But I decided against it. Those newer ecu's can be tricky, speak to Rolf below, they're in Jozi now and can make it work for you.

Apologies The new Z4M replacement aka Z4 sdrive35i with the N54B30 twin turbo motor

I said 7560 rpm not 7650 rpm!
Conditional means that by changeing some varients in your loom or i.e. the ///M button your engine could use THIS map in stead of one of the other 5 maps responsible for the value for limiting the revs!

Its up to you if you want us to prove our expertise (just that you have to post us your ECU)

 mine had issues on the Dyno - would not rev or give any power, no warnings, but it certainly went above 7600 on the road . :fencelook: I wont mention the speed on my private race track (absolutely no one on the track).

True, the newer ones freak out if not all 4 wheels are running. ABS DSC and all kinds of lights
