Z4M Roadster - Windscreen

Hey guys,

My windscreen has seen better days - the sandblasting is getting less tolerable and more annoying by the day... (probably because it's not dark when I leave for work or leave for home)...

:dunnoanymore:

Any suggestions on the best place to have the windscreen replaced - without the obligatory arm and leg going? Would rather stick with my original windscreen - but it's really getting painful!

Thanks a mil...

Pete

I would suggest you go the insurance route if you have a stone chip, I'm not sure if they will change it based only on sandblasting... I managed to get an original BMW windscreen for the e46, as well as the cowling at the base of the windscreen, when I claimed.

Only cost me the glass excess amount.

Walk towards the car with a hammer and trip and accidentally throw it into the window.

The end. :fencelook:

I mentioned the stone chip quip subtly, but this takes the cake...:roflol:

:biglol: you chop! Lol...

Aren't you worried about Karma?

Just kidding...

Hmmm... I do have some small stone chips - let me try the insurance route and see what they say.

Any suggestions on a trustworthy place to actually perform the fix?

Pop in to a PG Glass/Glassfit branch and get a steer from them on your best bet. So long as the chip is visible in the A-line of sight and larger than a 10c coin, they should recommend a replacement. Just chat to someone there and check your best course of action.. Advice should be free, I would hope!

Once you get confirmation from them, lodge a claim with your insurance and tell them your preferred branch, should be smooth sailing thereafter.

If you're worried about Karma/principle - just get a quote from PG Glass for a Shatterprufe replacement as a cash transaction.

Alternatively, you can also get a quote for the windscreen from BMW if you want to stay OEM. PG Glass charge about R800 for fitment.

Get insurance to do it for you, tell them you want a new one from BMW.. They will have to bring one in from germany for you... should take like 2 weeks..
