So, where to now for BMW’s two-seater convertible? Well, the brand is currently co-developing a replacement with Toyota, with the BMW-badged result likely to bear the Z5 moniker. Toyota’s version, meanwhile, is set to wear the Supra nameplate.

So would this be like the 86 and BRZ? identical cars with different badges and BMW being the pricier one :biglol:

Seems like it, Z3 to Z4... and now Z5 as stated.

Looking at current trends, I'm surprised there is not talks of Z1, Z2, Z3, Z4...... :tiptoe:

What is most interesting is the Toyota link, and mentioned supra badge.

If the BRZ and 86 is anything to go by, well, then there should be nothing but good things to come, however, it better have a BMW 6 pod.

Don't know how the Supra is being considered in the same line as the Z cars
The Z is a roadster and the Supra. Is effectively a supercar I the same line as the GTR
Unless things are about to get interesting:)
With all the hype created around the 86 and then to be left disappointed with what could have been a great car, ended up being severely under powered car good for going sideways

Let's wait and see

Regardless of what the replacement is called, it's about time the current one gets replaced to remain competitive. The interior is seriously dated IMHO, especially on the ones without navigation. As far as I know, it's the only BMW that does not have iDrive as standard (only the 35i and 35iS has it). The build quality is also not the greatest. Mine had several rattles. It also needs the air scarf vents. Ridiculous that it's not offered in the F23.

I still like the exterior though.

-.-

What is UP with the marketing department at BMW and their messed up naming conventions!

For every other series the number is used to represent a body size and shape, so why do the Z cars get increasing numbers?

I would really love to know what they will do when the Z7 comes to an end...

:skit: BMW must confuse everything all the time. Bunch of idiots, why on earth would consider joining up with Toyota, IMO that last thing Toyota made was not a success.
I hope this means my Z4M will become more valuable eventually in SA.
