Pulled the bonnet release felt a bit funny like something came loose now there is no tension in the release lever and my bonnet won't close . Those 2 catches on either side are not "locking".

I lubricated both catches and still nothing it still pops right out.

Any solutions on how I can fix this or atleast keep the bonnet closed I drove on the highway and the bonnet started jumping up and down held only by the middle latch.

Not sure if the Z is the same but have you adjusted the 2 rubber adjusters on each side? Screw them in abit.

Sorry I have no idea what the proper word for them are, but think it's for the bonnet/hood alignment

:fencelook: sounds like the cable snapped or came lose, check at the latch or at the handle that you pull with.

Normally if the cable has snapped the bonnet should still close, but it will be a mission to open....the latches are normally spring loaded to the closed position, and the cable releases the spring load.

maybe the latches have failed

It looks like the cable on the passenger side latch was jammed I just oiled it and moved it around a bit and ...Voila!!!!! Problem fixed!!:joy:

The passenger latch on the z4 seems to be the main latch because its connected to the right 1and the bonnet release lever. Once this was fixed the right was fixed as well and the lever went back to normal.

Eish that was a scary one apparently to replace that cable is a pain.

are you at the coast by any chance....rust being an issue there ?...then the problem might reappear if you don't regularly keep it lubricated and rust free

3 in 1 oil for lubrication oil ?
