Z4 35is

We all know that BMW didn't make the true M model in the current Z4 gen.

However I've heard a few people say that the 35is is a Z4M in just about everything but the badge.

I've always opposed that statement, which is a bit stupid of me since I've never driven one.

Is there any truth to it?

Well the engine can be found in the 1M. The Z4 is a little softer. There is no LSD. The steering and suspension can be switched between 3 settings, which does firm things up a lot but, not to the point of a true M car. So while it has a worthy power plant, the iS not a M car without the badge.

You can however turn into a tarmac shredding beast if the mood takes you.

Didn't know it has no LSD. That alone puts paid to any M aspirations. Thanks for the info.
