Hi All

Need some advise, I recently bought a 2007 Z4 3.0si , I love the car and at my own fault didn't look over the car 100%. After closer inspection and having some friends/mechanics look at it, it looks like its been in a bad accident. It was a private deal and the people were really decent at the time.

The car was hit on the front left and needs a full new Xenon light/ starter etc. The bonnet, roof, bumper and left fender need to be resprayed and there are some fault codes that need to be sorted. Just the light/starter so far has cost me an additional 7k. There is no chassis damage thank goodness.

So the advice I need is do I fix the problems, do I turn it into a track car, or do I just try and get rid of it and cut my losses. Also I need recommendations where to take the car to have it repaired, I have a couple of places but would like some advise.

I have owned mine for 6 years now, it may make a brilliant track day car but they are good runners as I still drive mine daily so I suggest you have it repaired

These are great everyday cars, and does very well on track.. I know this as I took my Si roadster to Redstar today.

My biggest issue with my 30si has always been the electric steering, but I fitted Powerflex LCAB last night, and I'm glad to say, much improved....

My advise is, repair it, and use it as both road and track.

Hi there. I'm Andy and I'm new to this forum. I've very recently become the owner of a 2010 Z4 and was sussing out this forum when I saw your post.

You mentioned Red Star on 25 June which was the Petrolheads for Pets event - I think I saw your car there. Is it silver? I was there in an orange Toyota 86 which is my track car. I go to RSR a lot. There's a sponsored track day at RSR on 24 Sept if you're interested, and if can get in quick enough. Michelin Cup competitors are invited (which I am), but they're also accepting some entries from the general public. Go to Michelin Cup 2016 website or their Facebook page and look for the registration link. It's free. Mods, I hope this doesn't contravene any commercial rules by mentioning Michelin. I have no connection or affiliation to them, just sharing info re a freebie track day - which is a rare and welcome windfall.

I want to take my Z4 on track at RSR sometime to understand it's handling at the limit, but the price of tyres is scary - I've got 19" run-flats which I don't like and would like to change...
