Z3 Coolant water level

The coolant light on my 3.0l Z3 sometimes lit up after start and during the drive as well.
Water level is perfect and there is no sign of water loss as the level stay the same.
What I need to know, is there something else that can trigger this alarm or is it only the actual level.

If the light comes up in the mornings , what could be happening ( I might be wrong ) but you might have a head gasket leak , where during engine off , the water goes into the engine , and in the mornings seems low , but then the water level must be dropping slowly . Go do a pressure test ASAP .

Possible that the level sensor is just on its way out.

If I have a head gasket leak the car will lose water, not true!

Yup , doesn't make sense , do a pressure test just to be sure . :thumbs:

You probably need to replace the expansion tank as the float inside has broken. I had this problem on my e46. The light would go on and off intermittently due to this fact. The water level was fine and I even replaced the sensor at the bottom of the expansion tank.
