Yulz's G01 Family Wagon

Howzit Guys

Figured I should create a thread now since I haven't done one for about 11 years.

So with the E90 soot machine gone, I figured I needed something more practical with some ground clearance that the wife could use but give me some smiles when I'm behind the wheel as well.
Fuel consumption wasn't too much of a concern as we barely do mileage and this won't really be used for daily duties, more the weekend wagon. I use the wife's old faithful Yaris auto currently for daily duties until I find a decent replacement for that. With that in mind I thought let's live a little and shy away from the black smoke mafia.

I considered the M seriously for a while but since the wife was going to use it as well then I think a divorce might have come barely 7 months into the marriage if there were dings and dents etc. :ROFLMAO: I mean it's still not ok with this ride but at least it's a little bit less expensive.

I barely put my feelers out on this, just mentioned it in passing conversation to a good buddy who recently got back in to sales at Supertech down in Durbs. Within days he started sending me deals that I kept rejecting for being the wrong colour or spec thinking he would be fed up of me as I insisted on a demo with all the bells and whistles but only in white. I thought this would be near impossible considering my very long list of desired specs along with my refusal to take a financial bath buying brand new on a soon to be pre-LCI. I was in no rush as a bakkie was on my priority list with my second business in full swing.

The morning I was on my way out to Ford to pull the trigger on a Ranger for daily duties, Roland calls with an epic deal very hard to pass on. The only extras not ticked for me were the M Performance Seats and Active Cruise control. 2 things I could live without. 9 month old vehicle at significantly less than the new price, it was hard to say no.

Fast forward a few days after shuffling the work schedule around, I asked the wife's forgiveness for informing her after the fact, made our way to Durban, signed a few papers and became the proud owner of a 2020 X3 M40i.

Some pics from the dealer on the day we picked her up.

Then I couldn't deal with a stock looking vehicle so accessories were sourced to be fitted the very next day. We came back to Jhb a few days later and I had my good friend Prash @ Precision Glaze do proper correction detail and 9 year Gtechniq ceramic coating on her. Here's some shots post detail.

Next on the cards:

Full frontal PPF
Magnets for number plates
Potential diffuser change, not 100% happy with the X3M diffuser

That's about it. More pics on next post due to 10 image limit.

Absolute stunner bud and great mods thus far! Congrats and wish you many many happy kms!

I heard one start up at the mall the other day and was surprised to hear how loud (in a nice way) it sounds. Although not sure whether this particular one was decatted or it does sound very nice in stock form.

Congrats Yulz, this thing floats on the road, can't believe how good the ride is on 21" wheels, and is a speed demon of note.

Many happy miles ahead for you👏

Awesome ride Yulz, looks fantastic! Wishing you and the wife many happy miles of smiles. I bet the petrol power is addictive given the full rev range you get to exploit...

Thanks for the kind words guys.

I am loving every minute of it. I can finally see why the B58 is so special. She has very long legs and being able to use the full rev range is simply sublime, not what I'm used to having been in diesels for so long.

That extra 2500rpm is worth the premium, as I said, the diesels lose that oomph from 3rd gear, this thing just keeps pulling HARD

Congrats, its a great choice, works well as a family vehicle, comfortable to daily and you can go into animal mode for some fun spirited drives. 🙌
