YUBEN's E46 330i "decat" and freeflow

OK....from my side

Car arrived yesterday for replacement of existing "headers with CATS" to 328i headers, remove centre cats and replace with a 2-in-2-out box.

However.....some minor problems

1)the 328i headers had a different flange mounting (3 studs vs the 2 studs on the existing pipe)
2)Rush off to VIPER performance exhaust, and they don't have the 3 stud flange to fit the "new" headers from a 328i
3)So its purchase a complete set of flanges, cut the existing flange off the "new" headers and weld on the new set from VIPER.

at this point because of the delays, the car was only going to be finished after "knock-off" time.
We convinced YUBEN to leave the car overnight, and for us to replace the entire 50mm pipe with a 57mm pipe all the way to the rear box.
So I offered to drive YUBEN through to Weltevreden Park, but he opted for a shorter trip to be dropped off at the Rhodesfield Gautrain station (Just 2-3Km's from the shop)

So this morning the work continues, entire new 57mm pipe dual pipe manufactured, and to finish off a staggered (M3) look tailpieces fitted from DEMON exhausts

Picked up YUBEN from Rhodesfield Gautrain station again aroun 12h30.

Took some photo's and a first for "me" some video as well, which will be below (facebook video)

The sound was "AWESOME", but I will let YUBEN describe it to the forum when he has a moment, as he is ultimately more familiar with the before and after sound as well as the before and after power difference.

nope....I don't think so....its a new "Spinning team"....TEAM SNIPER
this one is in for some serious rear suspension repairs, cracked mountings

Removal of the standard BMW rear box and replaced with a "2-in-2-out" box from COWLEY exhaust.

Thanks YUBEN, I am glad you enjoy the new power and SOUND, it sounded awesome when you pulled away from the shop

Awesome stuff by Ralf and team.
New back box fitted and it sounds awesome. No need for the X pipe.
Really deep tone at start up and at low revs, yet from 100-120 it is as quiet as the stock exhaust.

A bit early to tell how the consumption will improve. Initial comparisons though show a slight improvement although I'm tending to give it some stick at the moment, just to enjoy that awesome tone.

Was cruising through Clearwater parking lot yesterday at low revs while looking for parking. The tone was just awesome prompting a guy to stop me to say " sounds very nice, where did you do it? "

Just an update, the piping seems to have gotten coated properly with the resultant exhaust gasses and the tone is now even deeper.

It really makes people turn to see what's coming especially when approaching and you blip the throttle.

But make no mistake, it is not at all intrusive and there is no boom although I did set off 2 E90 alarms when I started it up this afternoon :rollsmile:

I don't think the "snake" exhaust specialists in Kempton or the "explosive" exhaust specialists in Germiston could have done a better job than Ralf@Speedway.

I seriously recommend taking your car to Speedway, but here mine first at the Treasur Hunt and decide if I'm talking crap o not:thumbs:

Must say, the exhaust tone is really making waves in Durban.
Its deep and turning heads wherever I go.:biglol:
