No need to call guys daft. You buy an m3 expecting it to be the fastest in the 3 series range and then find yourself lined up against a x35 and you can't keep up... you're going to be upset.

No that's not why you buy the car, I never said that's the only reason you buy the car. The M car of the series be it 1 3 5 or 6 had always been the faster car. If you can't see that then there's no hope for you.

When I had my V8 M3, I never once lost to an x35i and I tried about 3 different ones over my ownership period, so either the people who drive the M3s dont know how to drive, or the x35is were not stock.

Back to the topic at hand: I love the last gen M3, but it has to be an E92. Slower than my 135i or not I could quite easily live with one just for the sound of the thing.

I don't think a 135i would be able to keep up with an E90/2/3 M3 here at the reef stock for stock (Dev, you don't count!).
Modded is a different story, but that's just a pointless argument.
