So, would you consider purchasing a 335i ActiveHybrid?

Reasons for and against?

What about the replacement costs of the batteries?

I just think that hybrid cars are still very new technology which not too many workshops have learnt well enough therefore running costs may prove expensive in the long run which I would assume would affect resale value. Just my two cents

Resale is already an issue, I see them going for the same or less than a normal 335i on autotrader.

I still think they must be awesome cars if you are in traffic alot.

And it has a few extra horses on the normal 335i.

thanks for the feedback.
I feel the same regarding it being new tech and the issue of resale.

Just thought perhaps I'm missing out the positives regarding it.

There was a review done by phantom on the forum. Try find it. He owned one. He had good things to say about it.

I think it's a good example of a hybrid purely because it is performance based.. Most people still think Prius when you talk hybrid.. Yes phantom had one and reviewed it against the many other BMWs he owned, I distinctly remember reading him saying it's very quick off the line.. :coolShake:

I would buy because of the combination of economy and power. Guys have already connected JB4s to these beasts.

AFAIK batteries are covered by a longer warranty (think 8 years)

yes, that's correct.
But why is it not selling like hot cakes seeing that it isn't much more expensive?

Hi guys, I own a F30 ActiveHybrid 3 at the moment, great car, awesome power, very quick off the line and sounds great as well. Car is a bit of a "Sleeper" until you floor it. Hybrid power is very noticeable on acceleration. In traffic batteries will drive car for about 20 mins, and on the open road the car will coast on batteries up to about 130kms/h. Don't think this car was meant to be a Hybrid but more designed to be a performance car with additional electric power.
Cheers for now.

i say if you do want one, maybe wait for the LCI where the hybrid will become a plug in hybrid, even though it might come with a different engine
