So having experienced, driven or owned some of these cars this is my list of the best ///M cars from best to a little less best (cause let's be honest they all great cars)... My list is based on the driving experience the car gave... How it enticed the senses and heart... Sound, look, driving feel

1. E46 M3 CSL
2. 325is EVO 2 (our version of the e30 M3... And apparently by those who have experienced both tend to prefer the SA creation, owned one need to update my sig... How could I forget)
3. E39 M5
4. E92 M3
5. E82 1M
6. E46 Bmw m3 (this might need to be higher than the 1m)
7. Z3 m coupe
8. E36 M3
9. F60 BMW M5
10. F10 BMW M5
11. Z4 M coupe
12. E63 M6

No current m6 no older m5s... Cause I have not experienced these... Someone should slot them in where you think they should be. 333i should be here as well I think... So let's build a list and let's try to be unbiased as one can... (esp when you think the car you own should be number one)

If you have owned all of those then I seriously envy you! I can't really contribute as I've only owned the E46M3 Z4M and E34 M5.

And as a driving experience I would rate them as follows

1. E86 Z4M
2. E46 M3
3. E34 M5

I'm not sure how you want this thread to develop as everyone will have different views and opinions, I for one think the Z4M should be way higher on your list. It's a much more rewarding drive than the E46M3 and the 1M. It's only letdown being the gearbox.

My list is very short:
1. 325iS (driven in 1995)
2. 1M (owned)
3. e90 M3 (driven)
4. e60 M5 (driven)

I can not comment on any of the others as have not driven them myself, but I must admit, being carted around in an M3 CSL was an awesome experience. :)

Actually really difficult for me to try and put my M's in a specific order as they've all had a special place in my heart!! But reckon my first M is still my favourite! Once I've driven the E46 a bit more it might jump ahead of the E39 but damn that V8 M5 was epic!!

1. E36 M3 3.0 G-Spec
2. E39 M5
3. E46 M3
4. E36 M3 3.2 4 door

My favorite to little less favorite M car list, all things considered is as follows:

e34 M5 (Owned)
e46 M3 (Owned) - specifically the manual
e39 M5 (Owned)
e90 M3 (Driven)
e28 M5 (Owned)
e36 M3 (Owned)
e46 M3 CSL (Owned)
e60 m5 (Driven)

Guess what both bottom 2 ranked cars have in common....

As experienced at the time relative to (then) current cars..

1. E36 2-door M3 (Driven: All time great! At the time, and still to some extent..)
2. 1M (Driven courtesy of Speedy5.. Good car. Fast. Easy to drive. Too smooth? Sign of the times?)
3. E36 4-door M3 (Owned. Bullet proof. Except the bloody Vanos! Pity about the 318i Motorsport lookalike..)
4. Z4 M-Coupe (Owning) (VERY explosive but uncomfortable for my unique physique!)
5. Z3 M Coupe (Driven. Fun loving monster! I was thinner then..)
6. E39 M5 (A bit too 'clean'. Expected something more explosive..)
7. E60 M5 (Driven. Fast, good handling and brakes. Soul and character: None! Clinical transport equivalent of a Swedish speaking female CA. Ice queen lesbian blonde..)
8. M3 CSL (Passenger. Fantastic sound! Mystical aura due to all the hype. The potential to be no 1 let down by the most irritating of gearboxes! This in a proper manual could have ousted my no 1.)

no 9. M, FJ!

lol ... dont mean to hurt anyone ...

the M3 CSL box is bad just as the R8 gearbox is, but def better than the ordinary e46 M3 ... heck i think the R8 box is even worse ... but that CSL on a race track and that gearbox at speed ... :praise: ... it really something ... chalk and cheese comparison when you drive an M3 E46 and CSL back to back on a race track ...

changing the list including what i have not driven ... and moving the Z4 M up in the list ... seeing that many who have owned other Ms really love their Z4's ... also this list for me i have factored in desirability ... also tried to explain why i have ordered them as such

1. E46 M3 CSL (driven on a track ... few in number, looks hot, sounds hot, proper race car this ... M3 GTS looks crap ... but a CSL compared to an ordinary M3 ... :inlove: ... my colour: grey)
2. 325is EVO 2 (driven, might be slow ... but that sound, that handling those looks ... )
3. E28 BMW M5 (not driven but always loved one ... )
3. E39 M5 (driven, no sedan at the time could compare ... you could have your baby seat in the back and still do 220kph in 1km sprint ... my colour: silverstone)
4. BMW 333i (driven, dog leg gearbox ... what an experience)
5. E92 M3 DCT (owned, had the manual and DCT and preferred the DCT hands down)
6. E82 1M (owned, its limited, it looks like its on steroids and goes like a bomb ... nothing not to like)
7. E46 Bmw M3 Manual (owned, audi tried, merc tried ... but shame, it was and still is a benchmark car .... drove the SMG hated it. but SMG in CSL so much better IMO)
8. Z4 Mcoupe (driven ... it feels cramped inside ... very cramped ... and a little conservative on the looks department for an M car ... e46 M3 with a Z4 skin ... with some CSL parts ... M3 E46 still did it for me ... im a sucker for a big but)
9. Z3 m coupe (owned ... gave that feeling of what it be like in a 911 Porsche ... and yup when i did get a 911 the Z3 mcoupe def had a very similar driving position)
10. E36 M3 (owned ... the 3.2 4 door ... this, albeit the 2door is still the icon when you think M3 ... not the E30, not the E46 or E92 ... but def the E36 .... daytona on titan leather .... any day)
11. BMW F12 M6 (not driven but looks soooo hot, n faster than an M5)
12. F60 BMW M5 (driven ... sounds oh so sweet ... gearbox horredous)
13. F10 BMW M5 (driven ... very fast ... def would have trounced my R8 V10 ... but little soul)
14. BMW E46 M3 Cabriolet (driven in SMG ... M cars and convertible ... they just feel fat)
15. E63 M6 (driven ... never been a fan of its looks ....)
15. E34 BMW M5 (not driven, looks too "normal BMW" for me)

2) E92 M3 Manual
3) Z4 M (Thanx PlayaR6)
4) E46 M3 Manual
5) E36 M3 4 door
6) X6M (tommmmy!!! )
7) E46 M3 SMG
8) E90/2/3 M3 DCT (Never liked it tho)

Really don't like the new M6 so don't know if it should be on the list :fencelook:

Always wanted to go in a CSL and E60 M5 but never got the opportunity :thumbdo:

We did not get the e30 m3... So the 325is was the south African equivalent... Which to many is better than the e30 m3... N for that reason I'll consider it an m car
