Your first BMW love

What was the first BMW that made you fall in love with the brand. That first spark that started it all ....

For me it was in the 80s, when my neighbour bought a E30 323i. I was in primary school back then, and my dad used to drive it a few times. I still remember getting the chills just sitting in the car ... that exhaust tone was to die for

e36 M3, it still has that same presence and character as it did years ago.

There were many 'nice' bimmers around but the e36 M was a very special breed imo. Even by today's standards where cars have many more years of R&D and technological advantages, it still holds its own against many so-called performance cars. A raw, straight forward no bullshit drivers car with no nannies (except ABS).

A true Legend forsure, that was well ahead of its time:worshippy:

I was 8 years old when my dad bought his 1984 E30 320i 2 door. That is pretty much where it started.

I was brought up in a ford family, my younger brother had escorts Mk1 and MkII while I was still studying. BMW were expensive to fix and maintain and there were 50 electric motors in teh front seat alone that could break.

Then I caught a lift with a friend from Cape Town to welkom, who had an E30 318i... I was blown away by how well it drove. He said it was relaible so when I got my first car I got a very good E30 318i... then an e30 325i... then a e36 MotorpsortII... then an M Coupe. all the while drooling over e24s.

E23 733i Ruby Red

It was old and cheap, but one drive and I thought, "DAMN! this thing still drives better than any new car I have ever had before"

Taught me a lesson that a car does not have to be small to move like a horny bitch and handle like a pussycat.

I sold that car at 350000Km and the original front shocks were still perfect and it's looks still turned heads.

lol, I never used to like BMW, first car was a mercedes 280SE, was about 2 weeks and I got bored of it, went around looking for cars, came accross a '92 E34 535i Manual, The second I saw it I allready knew, this is my car. went for a test drive, bought it immediately.. and DAMN.. I was only 19 so it was like the coolest thing in the WORLD. lol, my friends and I drove EVERYWHERE in that thing.. sometimes we would scrape together all the old coins we could find in the house, go put in petrol and just drive around :) lol... any excuse to go drive.. best memories in a car ever.

Back when I was in primary school, my uncle bought a E36 318is brand new and going for rides in that thing was like a highlight for me then shortly after I used to get a lift home from school with a mate and his mom was a MILF of note! Whats more they owned a shit load of BM's and her fav to fetch us in was the red 325is with the E36 M3 mags. A MILF taking you home in an IS...every school boy's dream :drool::drool: It was then that i too said 'one day...' Lol.

My dad always has had BMW's.. But the 1 I can remember properly was a 730i (the one that looked a bit like a E34 5) Dont know which one it was. He has some 18inch Racing Heart 5 Spoke mags on it, had an awesome sound system with Sony Head Unit with a remote control for the kids to use in the back :)..
Then he got a 1996 740i and man that car was awesome, seats so soft and comfy. enough legroom in the back, boot big enough for a few bodies. and then when you put foot in that thing it moved.. :)

but my car we have had in the family since 1992, was my moms but cant really remember it much compared to the ones my dad had.

The 1 BM I really wanted was a 333i after seeing a poster of it that listed its specs (0 to 100 7.9 Seconds for a car that old is awesome)

then getting my first car (E30 318i with 336000Km on it) I loved that car, and miss it today. Wish we didnt sell it as it would have made an awesome extra car for track days & Skidpan :)
