Does the stage 3 file cause any excess wear
Hooning it has additional wear, meaning, driving like normal - normal wear, driving like a hooligan - additional wear compared to normal
or give rough changes on meduim throttle?
A gearbox with no issue should not result in rough changes. If you do experience rough changes, it means the software has highlighted and brought to the surface an issue that was there and the oem software was compensating for
Also I've heard that on inclines the car would change into higher gears to quickly and be pulling up the hill at around 2000rpm,
In essence the shift points have been changed, in my case, it holds first gear to around 2100rpm before changing to 2nd, in a normal driving situation ( car at least sounds more manual than a slushy auto) and as such all the shift points have moved up slightly ( 5th to 6th happens at 83-85km/h on stage 3 compared to 80-82km/h stock), it shifts to 5th at just about 78-80km/h now
Has anyone had any issues with it
No issues, but I still have recommendations that I would eventually like to customise on my car, for my driving style.
and would you recommend buying it?
Absolutely yes, but depending on your driving style and the purpose of the flash, you might not need stage 3

So driving hard on stage 3 wouldn't cause any more wear than driving hard on a stock map? - Sorry for confusion, it will cause more wear
I have had issues with my gearbox previously but it was all down to the software because once the car was flashed back to original adaptation values it drove perfect - I assume this was done by ZF and they woudl only reset adaptations knowing it would not cause any issues
Are you not able to customise shift points on software like tuner pro? - XHP is rolling this out currently, but similar to how they rolled out the various vehicle and gearbox variations over time, the same applies to the customization module
I'm looking to buy the super license with all 3 stages of the software and use stage 1 as my daily map and stage 3 on weekends - Considering it takes just 5 min to update maps, its doable, but the recommendation is drive easy for a bit (100km), not sure in your case if you are changing between maps...

I guess that's to be expected , how long have you been running the flash? Is yours a 6HP19?

Gearbox center, he drove the car and pretty quickly told me that the gearbox wasn't the issue just that thr mechatronic unit could be at fault so once he reset the adaptation values he told me to drive normally and i haven't experienced issues since

I don't think I'm gonna be fiddling around with those but it's a good feature to have, i see they just released the feature to read your adaptation values from the app.

On their website they hint that the stage one file actually prolongs the life of the gearbox so i thought running that daily would be good. The stage 3 i will only run when I know I'm going to be driving the car hard
I have had stage 1 from december for a month, then stage 2 for a just month and now stage 3 for just over a month. Rayzor and Alex have had stage 3 on their E90's for some time. I have the 6hp26I guess that's to be expected , how long have you been running the flash? Is yours a 6HP19?
Normally if there was a major issue it would come back, so dpending how many kms have been done since you should be able to judge if it did indeed fix an issue.Gearbox center, he drove the car and pretty quickly told me that the gearbox wasn't the issue just that thr mechatronic unit could be at fault so once he reset the adaptation values he told me to drive normally and i haven't experienced issues since
I might get my 'dealer' to do this, something I'm sure some beer him make his decision.I don't think I'm gonna be fiddling around with those but it's a good feature to have, i see they just released the feature to read your adaptation values from the app.
I believe its the warm up procedure that they have improved, the rev matching in stage 3 is awesome though, but sometimes i feel like they might need to adjust the timing of it, on my car it feels like they add rev just a tad before it releases the gear resulting in a slight acceleration , even though you are decelerating ( if that makes sense)On their website they hint that the stage one file actually prolongs the life of the gearbox so i thought running that daily would be good.
