Morning gents

Can someone please tell me what is the brightest xenon light? the 6000k or 5000K or 8000k?

I might be mistaken but 5000k is pure white, 6000k is white with blue tint and 8000k is leaning towards purple. The colour of the light is determined by the K as 4300k is yellow but i think the lower the K the brighter it is

Just spok eto a sales guy and he said the higher the number the bluer it gets. I imported a set of 8000k's last year and have to say my standard light were brighter. he said the 6000K is Pure white. i have seen that the bluer the light the less you can see on the road. Am i making sence here?

The kelvin rating has nothing to do with brightness, and everything to do with colour

and most of the locally sold kits claim to be 6000k, but are more likely 8000k (visibly blue).
The higher the number, the less light is actually being put out

OEM HIDs are between 4000k - 6000k and provide the most amount of light as compared to the cheap sub R1k HID kits

The biggest trade off is between colour and actual light output. The colour as said above is measured in Kelvin and the light output is measured in Lumen. Now where the trade off comes in is the higher the Kelvin or the better the colour the lower the Lumen becomes. This is also where the difference between OEM bulbs and cheap ones come in. The OEM bulbs can have the same Kelvin rating as a aftermarket bulb say 6000k but it will have a higher Lumen output so the actual amount of light will be higher.

A quick reference is given below:

Philips OEM 4300k D2S bulb:
4250k, 3200lm

Philips Ultinon OEM 6000k D2S bulb:
5800K, 2600lm

Aftermarket 5000k D2S bulb:
5000k, 2800lm

Aftermarket 6500k D2S bulb:
6500k, 2200lm

Aftermarket 8000k D2s bulb:
8000k, 2000lm

Hey Guys,

a couple of you are correct. the lower the K rating the higher the light output (lumens) (brightness).

also, about these 10W bulbs: these are 6 watts each with 2 leds per bulb and each bulb is 3w max. to get 10W they sink the balance (4 watts) in a load resistor and capacitor circuit. so don't be fooled into thinking that the higher the wattage the brighter the bulb. you just pay more for nothing.

i have seen a 10W bulb with 2 x 1W leds and 8W sunk in resistors.

happy shopping!!!

dont know where you from but in Durbs (and south africa) it is illegal. i know the cops here have a glare meter and are testing for stray light. anything above a certain height and you get a R2500 fine. i know a couple of guys that were fined. i have not seen this DEVICE with my own eyes.

i sell projectors for all cars buddy. tell these guys to give me a shout.
