So we have a good doctor customer & we just chipped his X5 & M3. He wanted the M3 dyno'd before & after. We used Stars dyno in Nandi drive as it's gaining a reputation as a well respected institution.

We fitted an X-pipe of our design which removes all the catts & we flashed the car with a map to take advantage of this. We have done 8 M3's so far with this setup & they ALL gain around 40hp on the wheels. The graph below isof the 1st run on the dyno & the last. The operator actually printed the wrong runs. We wanted the best stock run vs the best modded run. 288hp was the 1st run stock with a cold drivetrain & dirty filter. We cleaned the filter, cleared the faults, warmed up the drivetrain & got it to make 304hp stock. So the gain is actually 40 wheel hp. I will get a new prinout with the best stock run as the baseline.

Pardon my stupidity, I know nothing of this, but how can you tune a car without seeing any numbers?

I'm not fishing for your secrets, but what exactly does xcede or any other tuner do to get the most out of your ride?

Well his X5 diesel is not for "performance" as he has an M3 for that. He wanted more power and more importantly, better consumption. The extra power he can feel (added boost in the midrange is easy to feel), and the consumption he is monitoring and on the same route he is saving quite a bit.

But in any case, we have advanced logging equipment and we logged the airflow, boost, torque, fuelling before and after.

Sweet, friendly run just for fun. Maybe we make it a hook-up for anyone else on the forum that wants to socialise.
