X5 wheels on E46

I'm not a fan of 19" wheels on the E46, but came across this and think it looks stunning:

And one for Giz: :)

Just out of curiosity, are these wheels a direct fit on the E46 (with the right tyres of course)?? Every now and then, I come across a cheap set on the Gum and who knows, maybe it's worth a try :mmm:

Would also assume that you need the fronts wheels only cos the rear ones are too wide. My facelift X5 has 19s with 255 in front and 285 in the rear, so I assume the prefacelift wheels in the pics above might be the same sizes.

The first set could be reps, then again all of them could be reps.
Have you tried your X5 wheels on your e46?

Looks great though

Oh yes, didn't consider that.:hammerhead:
I wonder if anyone on the forum could help out with the correct tyre, then you could use the X5's spare (if it has one) with that tyre and fit it to the car.
Please let us know if you get this to work.

My X5 spare is a 17"

That doesn't look that bad actually, in my opinion a lot better than most 19's (on an e46). What I am more interested in is whether X5 brakes would fit on an e46 :)

there is an x(1/3) not sure, that has 19" Y spoke wheels on it. they look so nice, super concave, I would really like to see those on an e46

Check with Shaheen from The Wheel Shop. He did something like this on an E46 but it was the other X5 Mag (Concave spokes), not this one.

Been scanning the US forums and it seems the 19" OEM X5 wheels do fit on a E46. Tyres need to be slightly stretched though, but not too much, else the fenders rub.

However, I need to do exhaust + chip first on my 330i, so I will only consider this much, much later in the year (unless I get a set of X5 wheels at a bargain price).

For those interested the OEM size on this wheel is: 19x9 in front and 19x10 :dropjaw: in the rear - hence the need to stretch the rear tyre slightly to avoid rubbing.

Are the X5 rims not a bit too heavy for the saloon?

Not sure :dunno:

However, if I do go this route, will do my homework on this, else not bother if the wheels are too heavy. I did remove my X5 wheels once though, and they were much heavier, but they do have bigger tyres too.

I'm sure there's specs somewhere on BMW OEM wheel weights.

I don't think the wheels should affect a 330i too much.
Truth!

The statement below is purely by feel, i have not weighed and compared the wheels.
The 18" OEM Motorsports where heavier than my current 19's. The steering feels much lighter.

I think the OEM wheels are heavier, probably has something to do with quality

I must say that using OEM 19's is actually not a bad idea since one of the problems I have is that you can't really use them on a daily as they might get damaged to easily but OEM wheels are usually super strong so they should work a bit better.
