Looks like you all had fun.
Good power there Richard h for stock.
Well done guys, great power you all made

Nice fun guys but i think the Dyno had some of that Vodka as well...:)
'

Why do you say that? Is it because there where no JB3 cars representing or do you have experience of what N54 cars make at altitude.

George...no need to be deffensive. Did you not report that:

"Their dyno went down on Wednesday this week and are in the process of repairing it. I hope it gets done in time."

.....surely this could have been a reason for the dyno acting a little bit happy? And yes, i happen to like Vodka. Now what does the absense of JB users have anything to do with the price of eggs?

And concerning my experience with vodka at altitude...:)...:excited:...i happen to have worked and lived @ altitude for many, many years and know what it is like to get dizzy after a dop...you obviously have little experience of a dop at sea level...or do you prefer cider? :hammerhead:

Was great meeting you guys! my power was 230.1kw and 463Nm... seems like all the stockers when with that range.

Dyno is def a bit stingy! Scouse made 216wkw on Snail (which is considered quite stingy), 222kw on the fly makes it stingier than Snail!!
George we gotta go represent on the tracks!! ODI in Sept...:)

The dyno had a power supply problem which was rectified on Saturday in the presence of everyone there. If the dyno was happy people would not have made on the flywheel what they made on the wheels elsewhere including at Snail Dyno which is considered one of the market recognized dynos. With the N54 the only thing that changes at altitude is the shape of the curve and on tuned cars a higher loss of power. Its called altitude compensation. The N55 has a less agressive compensating map hence the lower reading.
The bone stock E92 V8 made 264kw. Is that a happy enough reading or is it too little? A stock M5 only makes 300kw when elsewhere the same car makes 272wkw.

What was also interesting to see is the variation of drivetrain losses between the cars running runflats, normal tires and 19 inch. End of the day though the dyno is used as a before and after tool and its more a device that the tuner uses than the client.

My car is getting new turbos soon so I do not care running the car at 1.2bar at altitude which in my opinion is unsafe for durability. We ran such high boost as a demo to the people there as to date few flash tuners can run high boost as there is a torque limitation of 600nm in the DME and Gearbox software. Most people think its a boost limitation but its not its a torque. We also did a fourth gear run to show that the boost is higher and the car produces more power in that gear via software control. The gain is not evident in totality on the dyno but on the road the intercooler is getting hit with 170km/h+ of air so you can push the boundary further.

The absence of JB3 cars have nothing to do with the price of eggs, it was just a let down that we could not get representation of more tuned cars. I take my hat of to the two FRC guys that put there guys on the dyno but it would of been great to have had a JB3, Xcede, Unichip and a Procede car there.

Holy....That is an impressive amount of torque George:pimp:

Curious as to why the M ran such low numbers at the crank, is this normal?

Hey George. Interesting about the software limiting torque. Do you know what the software uses as in input for the torque?

It was one of the stronger stock ones to date. The dyno does not do altitude compensation to reflect a coastal run. Its quite shocking to see what it can do with such little power. In general the V8's make between 215 and 225 at the wheel up here.

Ahh, never thought of alltitude... completely slipped my mind

Gotta love F/I - it's a whole new ball game of awesomeness

50/50 was the other FRC car.

Has any of the JB3 cars been dynoed at altitude ?

Guys, it was not a dyno day nor was it to see who makes more power. It was more to meet forum members and discuss onwnership. Highlight for me was to see the variances in power on the stock cars and OB explaining why each car was making that amount of power.

Thank you George and Obie! It was an awesome experience and great to see you guys. Stealth135i's car looks fast from just starring at it. I'm now convinced Black Mags will suite my too.

Some pics i took with my phone.

Hey George. Interesting about the software limiting torque. Do you know what the software uses as in input for the torque?

It uses a series of complex algorithms using measured airflow amongst other things. Initially it was thought that the car uses a accelerometer until we started seeing the faults on the dyno hehe. I do not think its totally accurate as you can actually log the torque that the car is seeing via the BMW and BT software but seems it is more of a estimate.

As a matter of interest we cleared Richards car with the BT tool and when we double checked with the BMW Inpa tool there was a shit load of faults on the car.

@Stealth135i I spoke to OB last night about your readings and he also thinks that your car is showing less because of the low mileage. One thing we didn't do is make sure the car did not spin. Most the cars we had people in the boot and this could have also caused a faulty reading. If you keen we can arrange to go back and have a few reruns. Thanks for the great pictures.

Looks like you guys had a blast.

I have a E92 335, witht he sport pack and 19's rims.

I read in one of the treads that 19's an run flats affect the power figures? How does it affect it and why?

Thanks

Congrats on the car. Its beautiful, I saw it in the other thread.
The 19's are much heavier wheels and runflats are very heavy so they affect the power at the wheels. Its not significant but swopping them can see immediate gains of a few kw on the dyno.

Thanks for that.

I am thinking of doing Software upgrade to the car, so I think that should take care of the heavy 19's issue lol.

Which is a good tunning company to go?
