Hi guys!

Its my first time buying a car and I am looking at buying a 2012 X3 xdrive 2.0i with 84700km.
Full service and i can add a extended warranty for R15000 for 1 year and 5000km.
Price for the vehicle R280'000.
I have got the full service attached PDF.

What do you guys think?

The pics aren't that clear, but it seems like there have been a few big ticket items fixed on that particular car.

Any reason why the 20i? Maybe consider a 20d (more torque for the heavier body of the X3).

Also - shop around, don't set your sights on the first vehicle you come across. Even drive different models with different engines and kit to get a broader feel and experience about the car in question.

Only the 1st page is readable the rest is unfortunately pixelated to bad to make sense.

With that said, I agree with @gavsadler above. It does seem like quite a few issues have been fixed, which can lead to you believe its a problematic car...

Furthermore, Paying R15 000, or R3 per KM to extend the MP is ludicrous. They must be smoking sellotape!

I agree with the concerns expressed by the guys above. I would personally walk away from that one.

Smaller petrol engine for the big body I would also be concerned with.

There are plenty X3's... and many options... go look around and test drive some. You won't be losing out by walking away from this one...

Hang in there and good luck!

Thanks for the info. I would've also prefer a diesel but market is empty.
When i say empty i mean a x3 2012 still under motor plan and R280'000
I have attached the full service PDF and diagnostics.

The main worry is that the car has been serviced quite a lot.
I will get an extended warranty anyway...but i just don't want to service every few thousand km.

Loryon,

As a minimum, ask the dealer for the previous owner's details and speak to them. Trust me, they will tell you if you have reason to be concerned or not - especially if they have already traded in and don't have a vested interest on whether it gets sold or not.

At least get that peace of mind - as it seems you may be going for this one.

If the dealer won't pass on the details - it should be a further warning...

We ended up getting the 35i... it is a beaut and couldn't be happier (well, unless I was a billionaire and on holiday)... and there seem to be lots of these around at the moment (cars)... but perhaps not many still with motorplan.

Just my further 5c...

Anyway ,best of luck!

I drove the x3 2.0d and it felt underpowered, compared to the x1 2.0d. Any reason you haven't considered an x1, unless you are planning more kids lol.
