X3 Fuel Tank not even close to 67L worried

So how does this compare to the 25 litre jerry can test you performed?
According to www.um.co.za the X3 tank capacity is 67 litres.

Always be extra vigilant at the pumps.
I work in the fuel industry. I repair the fuel tankers that deliver fuel to these garages. All it takes is to turn the calibration screw 1/10 out of position on the dispensing meter into a positive gain or loss and the garage or transporter will score. Depends which end of the stick you on. :biglol:
The same goes at the pump at the fuel station. Believe me the owner will know any way just depends if it's too his advantage :roflol:
Now the industry is more regulated as everything is gone electronic but yes I've solved a piece of puzzle where i showed a huge transporter how fuel can be dispensed without the electronic meters on the truck are not even switched on. :rollsmile:
This was after a year or so of losses on their side that ran into millions. :flyfun:

the 25Liter jerry can i cant explain maybe i filled past the mark cause i FILLED it all the way. But i have filled up at Sasol and Bmp and the Shell in Zambezi. Even in Nelspruit and every time the X3 doesnt take less than +- 80 Liters. I think the garage owner owned up and gave me speedy feedback.
So this thing has been bothering me and I saw something on BMW's site that intrigued me. in the Pre owned / premium selection site the last X3 listed is a E83 and in the spec sheet is says "additional tank filling for export" can this be where the extra capacity comes from? sounds legit. i have added the link if it will open

Looks like there is a 2 fueltanks available. 1 produced before and after 2010. there is were the extra Litres might come from

Additional fuel tank filling is additional litres put in to the tank for export, as the cars drive around ports etc. a bit more.
The X3 actual plastic tank capacity is 67lt. There is additional 10-14lt that go in to the filler neck.
Also as the car ages the plastic tank does expand +/-10% on basic spec. Age is determined buy time with fuel in the tank.
So eventually easily upto 90lts.

on the expansion part..,. my camry of 21 years has a 70 tank and most i ever filled was 67Litres after it ran as low as i would allow it after the needle hit the 'E'. The car is 337000km so it has been through plenty of fuel....

Simple
Fill the X3 to its fullest/maximum point, reset your Trip computers and consumption readers.
drive until you have no range left and then compare the distance covered to your average consumption, with simple math that'll give you an indication of how much fuel you really did have in that tank.
eg, so if you have an 80ltr tank , and travel 800km on it with consumption reader saying 10l/100km that'd be correct
