X3 F25 Tail light(LED) failure - Valeo Board?

Hi,

My X3's LED tail light has failed. BMW has quoted me R5000 to replace it. However, I have found multiple discussions on the web about the Valeo Driver Board that can be replaced for a 10th of the price.

Anyone know where I can get one here in SA and whether you have tried fixing the valeo board with success?

Clean the soldering point on LED PCB board. Try to solder it again yourself, It's the cheapest way.

Hi there,

Have you managed to have your LED tail light repaired? Have seen the replacement Valeo boards on eBay.

I recently purchased a BMW X3 and have the very same problem. Was thinking of getting an auto electrician to assess.

Google it, easy repair usually. I did mine and cost me a few minutes and some solder. Checking on Google how to do it took more time!

Thanks bud. There are some DIY videos on YouTube as well.
Was a relatively easy fix. All sorted.

Purchased 4 boards from Hyperlights Russia after BMW quoted me R5000 for one. Replaced the failed one on the 4th Sep and a second one fails two days later.

Works perfect and easy to install with size match.

Mosome, do you mean the other rear taillight failed two days later and not the "new replacement" one? That is what i assume happened. The price you got them for is a bargain. I (or rather my son) paid something like R1300 for two which he picked them up in London when he was there recently. I in the mean time have soldered mine for about the fourth time and now it is still working after about two months. Have the two new ones and will be keeping them as spares.
