X1 fuel consumption

Hi Guys

I have a 2011 1.8i sdrive and the fuel consumption is driving me crazy. With no highway driving the consumption goes to 16l/100km.

I did ask bmw to have a look at it when I took it for its last service and they said it's normal although at that time it was around 12 because it was more of a split between city and open road driving.

Is this normal or can I ask them to check something? Want to get everything done before the motor plan expires.

Have you done real calculations manually? Ie actual kms driven on a tank? I have over a years worth of driving and fuel longs and my consumption shown in the car VS my calculated economy is generally in the same range (maybe a 0.25l/100km difference over or under). Using my own calculations I worked out the correct KVA (consumption value) and changed it on the cluster. Thats how I got the car to report a much more accurate consumption figure. You can ask BMW to verify or adjust the KVA value on the onboard comp. BMW will probably tell you to fill the tank and drive to empty, recording the start and finish KMs for them to work out the KVA.
