X1 F48 : Powered Bootlid

Hi All.

I picked up my shiny SAV off the floor.. sad to say there were a few options that we soon realised we should have held out for instead... but the discount was great.

So on to the retrofit search at Dealers:
1. Electric bootlid... not available.
2. Base Audio upgrade.... Not available as a set. Full upgrade of just speakers >R20k
3. Front screen upgrade.... R18000
4. Front door sail replacements... R4800 pair

So internet prowl... and Electric Bootlid Is POSSIBLE:tiptoe:

Plug n play... laborious install (4hrs min).

But what a relief... 10 days lead time, R9.5k later.... wife thanks me everyday. Especially since hands often full with new baby.
Open and close with original remote.

Best of all... Available here in Durban through CPI.

I believe kits are available for X1, X3, 3 series F30 and 5 series.

Maybe you can do a group buy if you have min 5.

Next Pending is 10.25 Android Capacative Touch screen plus rear camera.. hopefully not too much more than R10k.
Then speaker and amp upgrades... prob bout R15k if I shop around.

I don't think I understand. Are you looking to get it done with a group buy or have you done it already?

That fact that it is available is pretty cool.

Hi. I have it done already on my 2017.
I'm willing to assist with putting together group buy if anybody else is keen

Nice! I am considering this for the wife's X3 too. (Powered rear boot/trunk lid)

Think I will look out for the set and DIY it myself... if at all feasible...

That's pretty cool.

You have no concerns regarding warranty?

Electronic tailgate is R6400 on my otp for my X3. Just some info.

Hi.

Warantee is always a risk I guess but appears reliable, quality looks good, and its plug n play. I received good response of 24 hrs for support when I had a small issue... software updated n all sorted.

Since i bought off the floor and I couldnt add on at BMW I took the risk. All good so far... wife and I love the convenience. Would have been R7800 if specced.
IMHO.. not that expensive for an aftermarket that is hard to get.

Is there a how to guide to do this?

I remember seeing a you tube video on an X3 from UK I believe for a DIY kit.

Just looked like too much work for me. Needed to remove trim on bootlid, boot, doen right side of car to driver cabin.
