Hi Guys

I've been a BMW fan for as long as I can remember. But strangely never bought one. Almost bought a 330i last year, and stupidly bought an A3 3.2 instead.

So, last week I decided it's time to realise my dream of driving my own (the bank's) BMW, and decided on a 335i. Had a few late nights reading up on the cars, for issues and stuff.

I test drove a manual 335i this past Saturday, and then today I test drove a steptronic 335. Boy, this steptronic goes like the clappers, WAY better than the manual, I thought. The auto also had a different exhaust sound. So, I took out the manual again. I thought it was just that the auto gets to the optimum gear faster than I was able to. And, for some reason the auto just felt better than the manual. But before this, my heart was set on the manual.
I pulled the 2 cars next to each other, doing the usual inspection before buying a car, opened the bonnets, and there it was, "BMW Power Kit installed.."

After a bit of thinking I decided to buy the car.

I assume my car has the performance kit installed, otherwise this would not be there.

Man, I love this car, after 120 problem free kilometers. ha ha. I hope to get a few more problem free k's out of this beast, but hopefully Motorplan will be by my side if/when something goes wrong.

I can't wait to look up an M3's kidney grille thru my rearview mirror.

Great forum, BTW. It helped me alot in my decision making.

Hope to see some more pics of your ride.

Welcome to the forum and good luck with your ride bud. Awesome car with loads of grunt for a relatively small motor. Post some pics ...

Thanks for the welcome. I'll post a few pic's tonight.

The M3 comment was tongue in cheeck. I love the M3, and would've bought one if I didn't have kids.

Thanks for the welcome. Didn't get round to taking photos today. Didn't even get time to go for a drive. Will take some tomorrow, and post them in the showroom.

You must remember, the auto can swap cogs without loosing boost, while I don't see that happening with a manual. So in effect the auto will maintain boost while changing gears, giving it a big edge on a turbo car...

Makes sense, I somehow feel you have more interaction with the car with the manual and it adds that "fun" element when driving. No doubt the auto is quick and is definately not sluggish at all.

I guess it all goes down to the individuals driving preference...
