What do you guys think?

I have never owned a convertible - M Cars should rather not be convertibles but I might have found quite nice one?

Have not test driven this car yet...

A convertible is a cruiser and for as long as you expect nothing more from it, all will be fine.

If you are a part time drag racing or Formula 1 driver then a convertible will leave you frustrated and displeased.

Horses for courses.

Good Luck with your search.

Yes why not. There is a cabriolet version of every M3 built including the E30 M3 so don't know why you think they shouldn't be M cars.......they are heavier than standard M cars so the performance is fractionally off but they will still put the biggest grin n your face. E46 M3 Cabriolet is a beautiful machine

Great cruiser, and beautiful car, but is heavier and doesn't handle as well as the coupe.

90% of people wont be able to tell the difference in handling between the coupe and cabrio

Yes, yes, yes !

M cars are known to be screamers, M convertables with the top down and high rpm and you will soon forget about the small lack in performance and handling.

I would take the drop top over a coupe every sunday of the week.

I was very foolish in selling mine...got a very good price for it but feel like kicking myself for changing it to go faster. ///M is just a different car in terms of handling, tone, attraction etc

With the top down you have the best of all worlds.

No roof means less chassis rigidity, which can spoil the dynamics of the car. Engineers fix this my adding strengthening, which adds weight which again spoils the dynamics of the car. This is in theory.

In practise there is a very good chance it will make absolutely no difference to the way you experience the car on a public road. If you do intend racing the thing and lap times or 1/4 mile times are very important to you, then maybe consider a roof.

Otherwise go for it, there is just something about driving with the roof off.
I wouldn't mind one myself..

+1

None of us will actually notice any losses in speed or handling, however, the car does sound more squeaky. Driving up driveways, going over bumps at an angle you actually hear the car bend and squeal and that gets to me a bit. It's not bad but that's the only time that reminds you the car is a little slower than it's coupe brother.

Most M lovers are against the soft tops, but you're buying the car for you! Don't let someone's opinion decide for you.

Bottom line Great car, fantastic sound = awesome experience everytime you drive :joy:
Get one already!
