Hi Fanatics,

Need some advice her please! I am seriously considering flogging my beloved E46 and upgrading to a 5 series. Found a 2004 530i Exlcusive steptronic with 130 000km on the clock, M Pack mags, sunroof, auto xenon headlights, multi function steering wheel and full serivce history going for R130 000. Just not sure if its a good idea, dont know about maintenence, running costs and known issues on this model. Any E60 530i owners have some advice for me please??

Thanks!

The service histtory is good, the mileage is good, no mileage for that machine! So I would def do it if I were you!

i would go for it.

The E60 still looks fairly new on the road and the mileage seems decent for the year model.

So to do a background check on the car, assuming repairs would have been done by BMW, can one simply call BMW with the VIN and they will tell you the cars history? That simple?

Don't know much about the 5, but the M54B30 motors are known to be bullet proof if properly maintained. I can't see general maintenance costing more than a 330i seeing that they share the same motor.

I say go for it. They great cars, a bit heavy on fuel but runs great.

I was worried about consumption, but according to www.UM.co.za (http://www.um.co.za/specifications/bmw_530i_exclusive_(2005).aspx) it is lighter on fuel than my E46.

It all depends on how heavy your foot it
trust me with that awesome zost noise your foot will be heavy for a while

No doubt! I just found out from the dealer that this is the 170kw version :-( So its the earlier one as I think in late 2004 early 2005 a 190kw version was released which is faster and more economical. Think this might be a deal breaker for me
