working for a dealer

So I've been restructuring my life lately. That big 30 is looming haha. Anyway I decided its time I got into vehicle sales and seeing as we are all bmw befokked it would be the only choice for me. However it seems to be a hard game to get into. So if anyone has an idea for me please feel free to give me input. So far I've been harassing cedar isle but no response yet. Also if someone has a lead that would be awesome.

Thanks in advance

Zach,

You have to be a special kind of stupid to want to work in the motor industry, willingly...

Just saying...

Vehicle sales is also particularly tough..

True but I need to get into something I'd enjoy long term so either aviation or the motor industry

I can tell you for a fact, my Dad being an auto dealer, that the good old days of selling cars are gone.

Loving cars and selling cars are two totally different things!

Im sure the aviation industry is far more exciting... :fencelook:

Besides, who is gonna buy a car from you, Rutlidge...

Lets start "wheeler dealers SA", you can be Mike and I can be Ed...

I also think about going into selling cars mostly because salesman I've met don't seem knowledgeable or passionate. But then I figure actually I love cars, not dealing with people.

ha ha...I was in the aviation industry for 30 years, it totally destroyed any form of family life, and also contributed to medical issues....(I am still at heart an aviator)...

so now

I am willingly in the motor industry, and actually have a "LIFE" now, granted though not as an employee now, but as my own boss..

and now I can practice my passion for aviation as a hobby again and actually enjoy it for a change, and all weekends/public holidays etc are MINE....and I sleep in my own bed every night instead of in yet another 3 star hotel every second night.

good luck with the hunt and career choices

Thanks Romeo. This is the issue. Aviation is awesome but yes no life and if you're not a pilot then no money either. So I can either work ops till I finish my com or go sell cars. Hmm gizmo we must talk dude.

Nick is right, it is a tough game.

Every so often i'm dealing with new sales people because they only stick around for a short time.

But as Twinz said, if you're good at sales and combine it with your passion, its most definitely worth a go.

Try this: http://www.autostart.co.za/cindex.html

-Trade info and services
-Recruitment for the Motor Industry and available jobs

I took a good look around there and didn't see anything over 30k and it seems that starting in the industry you're looking more at 5-12.

My brother in-law left BMW sales a couple of months ago due to unbearable conditions and demands placed on the sales team. He was getting threatened with his job daily in order to meet really tough sales targets. He came from a GMC dealership and ended up going back there.

Brilliant Idea!

I can also vouch for what Romeo ET said. There isn't money in aviation unless your prepared to sell your soul and life. Then what's the point anyway. Unless you're prepared to emigrate.
