Why you wanna buy those from the stealer? Go to you nearest Midas/ Autozone etc.

Cause the last set for the other E36 we had that I bought from an auto spares place were terrible, they lasted like a month and were wasted.. So dont wanna go down that route again.. but R280 each is insane

SMG took the liberty of changing both my blade rubbers only at the previous service. I'm out of MP, but that didn't stop them billing me R198 PER SIDE!!! For the rubbers ONLY!!

My favourite German swapped mine on the last inspection service, at R450 for the pair, but that was the complete thing (not just rubbers). When I picked up the car everyone, including the receptionist, made remarks about the high cost of said wiper blades... it was clear it was a point of discussion in the shop :)

But I have a R30 set on the Tazz that I bought from Game, and it is absolute rubbish. So to be fair, I'm happy to pay R200 a side if it 1) doesn't suck and 2) last more than a year... time will tell.

Used to fit Bosch blades to the Corolla. I think they were about R100 a set, and they weren't rubbish...

I have been using these durablades that you get at verimark, and must say for R89 a set they do a hell of a job.

I had durablades on two previous cars, a citigolf and a Corolla. On the citigolf they were ok. On the Corolla they absolutely sucked. It had something to do with the curvature of the windscreen. It seemed as if the blade takes on the form of the much rounder bottom of the windscreen and then wipes "over" the most important bit in the middle. It would only recover after running at top speed for several minutes. And it made a horrible squeeky sound.. I junked them and put Bosch blades on... which doesn't suck and is silent.

LOL. Good one.

People often kid with me over my love for the old Corolla. The handling is mediocre, the power is average. But... you don't have to budget for repairs, it never breaks. For crying out loud, it still had the factory exhaust, alternator, waterpump, everything except a clutch, at the ripe mileage of 215000km. And if you check your euro ncap reports you'll see it is actually a little safer than the BMW of the same year... except it doesn't apply in SA because our older models doesn't have airbags :p

So to answer your question seriously... no, there was nothing on it that ever failed to work :)

Doesn't mean don't love the beemer. I always say it is like having a choice between the neighbours daughter (dependable, etc etc) and the italian hottie in town. The Italian might throw a vase at your head every now and then... but....

For me - the same as some have answered - i only use Bosch - costs like R160/pair. Buy from a Bosch agent - like DieselElectric - there are cheaper ones at Autozone - but they are crap - cos it does not lock properly into the wiper arm. I was once in a hurry and i put those on - I was so scared that the blade would pop off and scratch the windscreen - after 3 months i sacked that (R100) and put on the ones from DieselElectric. Excellent! This comes with the full blade (not just rubber). Remember that the RHS is about 21" and LHS 20" - cant remember now...

I have heard of old corollas that have flippen gone like 500 000Km with no breakdowns! I know a guy with an isuzu 280 TD he has over 600 000Km and has also never had a breakdown, he only does the required services when they are due :)

I USE DURABLADES ON ALL MY CARS.die beste.en cheap also...

I had the durablades on the Polo and yes it worked brilliant. It also lasted longer than the R40 Midas one year jobbies...
But after like 2 or 3 years, I took them back to the shop cause they were not cleaning so good any more. Guess how much the LIFETIME warranty for Durablades is worth: ZERO. The lady only wanted to hear ONE thing: Did the blades perish? Off course they DIDNT! Sillicone CANT perish, so there is you guarantee. If its making streaks, not cleaning and just bad quality, they WONT replace as the guarantee is ONLY for the sillicone not perishing... :censored:

My experience was the same, it never perished, but it became hard and didn't work properly after about a year. It was never as smooth and silent as a proper set of blades, even when they were new. I'd rather have a proper set of blades that last a year than a crappy set of blades that last only a year.
