Window switch location (worthless rant)

I drive my 330i about 80% of the time and the X5 about 20%. However, one thing that still bugs me about the X5 (and the newer BMs) is the location of the window switches.

Maybe, I just need to get used to it, but it just feels a lot more "natural" having the switches in the centre console rather than the door ... I admit, I spend more time in the 330i, so maybe I'm just more used to that :dunno:

Anyone else share this opinion? As your primary car/daily driver, have you "upgraded" from a E46 to E90 (or any older to newer) and ever got used to the window switch location?

Actually, I dont like it being in the centre console. I prefer it like the e90's and so on.

Thing is with the doors, everybody is used to them being there.

So if you take on an obscure passanger, he knows how to use the windows as well... I have to say this issue has never bothered me, E34 is in the console, E65 in the doors

Mine is also on the doors... although mine is more like handles than a switches. :):):):)

I do like the idea of the switches on the center console more though as it's different to the rest.

When I drive my dads e60 I reach for the centre console to open the windows.. & theres nothing :)

Also when I drive the GF's Corsa, I reach for the button, and nothing is there then realise I have to wind it down by hand..

I like the buttons on the centre console, I have even though it might be a good idea to move the button for the sunroof to the centre console, but that is just me.

I kind of enjoy the switches in the middle, think its part of the E46's layout in which the driver is in the so called "command position" whereas some of the new models (X5 included) you only get the "semi-command position".

I thinks one adjustment should be that the no-back-windows-winding button (or whatever its called) should be smaller and the sunroof button should also be together with the window ones:thumb:

DAMN!!!:censored: and BLAST!:cursin:

lol

The centre of the dash turned to the driver is also a nice part of the e46 interior, something that they saw fit to remove from the new models, why?

I think it's because the flat dash makes it look more roomy. Really was a nice touch which is something a lot of people will miss.

Every car I had with window buttons had it in the doors....
Most of them would have water on them when you had to open the window slightly for some reason (ticket at parking bays) in the rain.

My E39 is the best in not getting its buttons wet in the rain. My Isuzu was the worst!!

I think it was also designed with the iDrive in mind.... even though it was not standard :dunno:

Its cheaper to put them in the center, 1 less button.

E90 the buttons are to far forward. IE when I reach for the switches I open the back windows instead of front.
I am also worried about water damage.

I prefer them in the door cause I want to be in control.

this is my thought exactly, every time im in the e90 i open the back windowby mistake coz the driver window switch is too far forward.
Also why on the E90 is the driver door handle and passender door handles different? could they not decide which one looked or worked best so they gave us the best of both :dunno:

i prefere the switches in the centre and the sunroof switch in the centre is not a bad idea at all.

e46 has the best looking 3 series dash in my opinion too :)
