Window Mechanism

Hi Guys,

My drivers window mechanism is gone all faulty. I opened the door panel and noticed that a strand of the one wire has torn away from the entire wire. Does anybody know where in JHB i can get a complete mechanism from?

I have seen them for around R750 but that guy does not have stock.

I replaced one of these in the 528i that I had earlier this year. Same thing happened, and these units are quite sought after.

Try all the scrap yards, this winder unit will set you back about 4k from BMW.

Can I ask where you have seen them for R750? That is a really good price!

Eish, ja the 3-series equivalent is 1.7k ex vat from the dealer. I got one from a breakers yard for R600. In the meantime I cable-tie strapped the existing one, fully expecting it to break again within two weeks or so. That was two months ago... its noisy but it works.
