Thats weird. No clue what it could be. Perhaps not enough power when its winded up.

The key uses alot more power when you lock the car and rolling up the windows and sunroof...it needs power to do all those things simultaneously

Are you talking about the one-touch up and down feature or it just doesn't want to close?

Real long long shot here...but could it not be the finger/hand safety strip (not sure of what its called but it keeps your fingers from being closed on accidentally) in the upper window rubber is damaged and its not allowing the window to close under the instruction of the button but when using the key that's being over ridden?

The actual switch in the car could also be faulty. Swop it with left switch to test.

E36 or E46

What happend to my Brother in laws car was the same so we took out the Switches and opend it up.

there is two very thin Wires running inside that makes contact with the plate as soon as you flick it up or down. in his case the two did not touch the metal part and we had to bend it back to sort it.

it sounds def like the Switch.

It is very basic and simple do it your self job. Im guessing you have the same Problem

he had the E36 328I
