Window gremlins and need to replace speakers...

Hey guys,

Really enjoying the car (BMW X3 3.0i), especially in today’s terrific traffic!

So last night, while driving, the passage window decided to come down automatically and didn’t want to come back up (used both drives and passenger controls). We had to stop the car and hold the lock button and then it closed. As soon as I started the car, the window decided to come down again and wouldn’t come back up. Closed it again with the remote lock function again. Started the car this morning at it was fine - didn’t open! Weird... So I went to BMW dealership and they first mentioned that they motor is on its way, which is absolute BS as it went up and down completely smooth, at the same pace as the drivers... Then the guy ‘reinitialised’ the windows with the remote?!? Guessing to reset them as the battery was dead when I went to see the car first.

Any thoughts?

Also, I picked up a blown speaker and want to replace them. Any suggestions on a decent place for fitment?

Doesn't sound like a motor issue.

More like a software issue.

I'm no expert though.

Could be the pressure sensor. Like if something is stuck in the windows, ie an arm, pressure before limit is reached. The windows will open its self all the way.

The windows need to be "calibrated", which I know can be done through ISIS when they plug your car in, but using the key is news to me.

Sounds more like the window switch is getting stuck in the down position. Does it still happen with child lock on?

It was weird, turned a corner and it opened then wouldn’t close unless you use the key (it reopened as soon as you start the car; it’s almost like a safety feature – but NOT in RSA!).

Happened on Sunday and been driving the car since and it seems to be ok. I will check the child lock (it was the front passenger window though), I remember switching the latch off when I picked up the car.
