volvo s40 T5 = brilliant value for money used car. they sell for a packet of peanuts and a coke at 2yrs old.

Insurance is reletively cheap as well, its a family sedan, with one of the worlds top safety ratings.

When volvo came on the subject it was the first thing I thought of its so blerrie true one of the crappiest resale values.

decisions decisions

if only my company would change their policy and allow us to buy sedans instead of suvs only, then captiva can go and i can buy me a decent sedan/ travelling vehicle , sell the opel ,give the bm to the wife and get a cheapie bakkie for camping

problem solved, but convincing them another story

what does the company do that require an SUV?

Thats quite odd.

We are exactly the opposite, we have to get german saloon cars that we contribute to the manufacturing (VW,Audi,BMW,Merc) and maybe Nissan, and SUV's are "distasteful"

If you are going to get a SUV, it has to be a 4x2, and no sports cars...

Hence the reason why I only have 7 company cars (Including 3 delivery vehicles) left, and about 25 guys on car allowance, cause then you can buy what you want.

Funny how policy differs, and the funny thing is that the person who wrote the policy probably is not working for the company anymore

My missus got a freelander Td4. BMW engine and its brilliant. The FreelanderII is very reliable and still has the BMw engine AFAIK. Its very spacious and very comfortable.

I got the Freelander under protest and because it had a BMW engine... now I think its really good as a mums taxi. Its one of those vehicles you wouldn't consider but its actually a bloody good option. Now we are having a fight about whether we take the Jeep or the Freelander on holiday:(

I am refferring to the newer mercs... Dont make me post pictures of the PLASTIC manifold and how clogged up with crap they are on the new diesels and how it costs R15 000 a shot every service because of poor design and plastic bits that actually end up in the engine...

The old Mercs may be good but I have had to deal with far to many new Mercs (Only diesels) that seem to have issues.

Mike

Do it... Post the pics... :)
