Okay, having a bakkie with a high ground clearance and then two cars with fairly low ground clearance is an interesting experience.
Just after I got the E90 I had two minor incidences that "alerted" me to the low ride height:
First was taking a corner of a familiar road that has a slight dip in it, scraped the plastic lip just in front of the front left wheel, even climbing on and off of driveways is enough to have this touch, but nothing major. Second was when we were four up and I turning into a parking lot a little quicker than I should have because of another slight dip in the entrance, so left rear jack point plastic cup got slightly hurt.
Now with my Wife's E46, the front end is quite low - but in general the car seems fairly low, and in fact lower than her dad's pre-facelift E46 when parked next to each other. Another weird thing, our driveway is on a slight slope up and the road going past is also on a slight slope, so the left entrance to the garage has a slightly higher crest angle than the right side. With both of us in the E90 no problems driving into the garage on either side, but with both of us in the E46 it scrapes somewhere underneath when using the left side of the garage.
Both cars are stock standard and non-sportpack so ride height should be normal and not lowered as such. Even jacking up the cars, have to drive the E46 onto planks first in order to get the trolley jack under the jack point, but no problem with the E90...
