Why no ZF8 Speed in new M3/M4

Can someone please tell me why BMW didn't opt for the legendary ZF8 speed in the new M3 and M4?

Ahh ok, I just read a press release this morning and didn't dig into more details. I just see so many high end cars using the ZF8 speed and people raving about it.

Really find it weird to think of an M car with a torque converter, except for the X5/X6.

Ahh ok, I just read a press release this morning and didn't dig into more details. I just see so many high end cars using the ZF8 speed and people raving about it.

They are raving about it because as far as automatic gearboxes go, it is excellent. That is not to say that DCT boxes are not better..

ZF-8spd is better than some dual clutch transmissions, but not better than the BMW DCT. The BMW DCT shifts quicker than the ZF. The reason the ZF is said to be better is because on BMWs it responds to driver inputs quicker when manually shifting down than some dual clutch boxes.
