Take one WhatsApp conversation and for each msg you send you pay 0.80 cents and you pay more for pics and videos. See what you total comes up to, I doubt the world will ever use the sms service as means of social communication again.

Well, Telegram is showing huge growth post-whatsapp acquisition. It works in exactly the same way as Whatsapp, except it is supposed to be more secure on a personal data level.

The reason I like it a lot is because it has really great Mac/PC clients - proper multi-device compatibility with perfect syncing.
