Who can I use to repair my car?

Hi guys

I still have the turbo actuator problem, and I want to send it in to somebody trustworthy to have a look and repair.

When I start my car when its cold, its always right, when its driven warm, I switch it of and start again, its faulty, then the turbo only 'kicks' in at over 3000rpm, causing it to be very heavy on diesel at 120km/h, because there's no power.

I still hear the 'click click click' sound from the actuator every time I unlock the car, or open the door. I felt the little lever at the actuator, when the car is in 'sleep' mode, I can move the lever up and down with my fingers, but when the car is 'awake', the lever makes a sound like its trying to move but it can't.

I read quite a lot on the internet about these N47D20 having actuator linkage problems, but all of them overseas.

I'm def not a mechanic, but it looks to me like the little lever at the actuator try to move, but like its stuck, but when in sleep mode, I can move it freely.

BMW qouted me R23 342 for a new turbo, but my warranty only covers R15 500 on a turbo, but I'm so afraid I have the turbo replaced and the problem is still there.

If I take BMW's part nr on my car's turbo, and Google it, it looks like it a Mistubishi turbo.

Anyone perhaps know a workshop that really knows these cars, and won't just replace the turbo if its not neccesary? Preferably in the Northern Suburbs of Cape town, or Strand area? And if it needs replacing, will do it for around R15k?
Its a 2008 320d, with 88 000km

You don't go to bmw for a turbo. Contact turbodirect. A new OEM turbo is like 9 - 13k...... They could also probably repair the turbo. But if warranty is covering it get a new one. I think it's a mitsubishi 8k it's pre fl.

Yes it is a pre facelift. I know not to go to the stealers, just found out a price from them.
Just looking for a expert workshop to do the right diagnosis and repair it.
Whatever is wrong with something related to the turbo, my warranty will cover R15 500.

Any other suggestions guys?

So I called Garage 808 this afternoon, after seeing all the good reviews on here.
Spoke to Adelle, going to make a plan to take my car there next week for the proper diagnostics and if neccesary, replace the turbo.

Yesterday, for the 3rd time, the engine management light came on, and its like is going into a limp mode for a while, and then suddenly it starts pulling again.

I hope my car gets sorted, and that my 'aftermarket warranty' will cover me on this, but let's see.............

Stiaan, please keep me posted as to when you are taking your car in. Also, where is Garage 808 located.

Hi Johan

I'm planning on taking it next tuesday or wednesday, will let you know, the first opening they have for me is next thursday, so I'm planning on leaving my car there.
They are situated in Bellville, boulevard park, its near Triangle Transmissions, had my Jeep there 2 years back at Triangle, so I know more or less where it is.

On the N1 towards Cape Town, go past the Durban Road turn-off and take the Mike Pienaar Boulevard turn-off turning left at the robot (Jip De Jager Drive is to the right). Go all the way down Mike Pienaar Boulevard and over Voortrekker Road. At the next robot (stick to the middle lane that goes straight) go over and this takes you into Boulevard Park which goes down a slight hill and immediately turns left. At the very end of the street right in front of your to the right, you will see a gate and some buildings. Garage 808 is to the right towards the rear.

Hope this work, but street view - basically the middle of the screen should be their entrance...

So they are right about next door to the wheel guys that do repairs to mag wheels. Was there last week looking for a spare E90 wheel for my car but they did not have any so ended up buying a similar wheel as yours and fitted a new tyre to use as spare wheel. Paid R1586 at Helderberg BMW for the wheel. Hope you get sorted with the turbo!

Cannot remember what Stiaan did but iirc he sold the car eventually. I know that there are people in the UK that repair the actuators but as far as i know not in SA. Only solution is a new turbo. Sorry!
