Whisle Sound(Turbo?)

When the car is still cold I hear a whistling sound at 1500rpm. It gets more frequently even if it is warmed up and driving slowly. I don't hear it when driving at speed.

Is this the bearing from the Turbo?
Can I add any treatment like prolong to treat the bearing? I had a noise on my old Audi (Tappets) and after using prolong it when silent.

Please assist me in you expert advice.

My old E39 with 226k on the clock was making a whistling sound and it turned out to be one of the vanes of the turbo which had a small piece broken off. Bearing was like new. Car pulled the same, did not discern any change when replacing with new turbo. Am not saying that is what your porblem is. Most turbos make a faint whistling sound.

Maybe a stupid question, but don't turbos generally whistle? It's just that with modern cars there is so much sound deadening to keep most engine noises away from the cabin that you don't really hear things like this very easily. Every single BMW diesel that I have driven I have been able to hear the faint turbo whistle as I drive. Obviously, if it all of a sudden becomes quite a bit louder than usual, then it makes sense to investigate!!!

Whistling can mean one of two things, the turbo is either running very well and freely (most common when DP is fitted) or its on it's way out, in most cases its not the latter
