Which software

you are actually right but then again nor Tom, Dick or Harry would be able to do that.

Biggest downfall is opening the ECU! This will immediately be deyected IF an investigation from Motorplan would be initiated.

But then again if the car is out of MP, who would care?

As well engineered the piggyback units like JB4 actially are, there is no better way than onboard software optimization!

Arbee...there is no problem in proposing or mentioning the Xcede software as an alternative. There is absolutely nothing sinister about that. My point is, that we (also) have to encourage members who inquire about products and services to explore or inquire from the onboard vendors...that was more my point

Maybe he means, ecu removed and file loaded. Think its called bench mapping or something.

Dodgy, i would never go that route, know some tuners do that.

:fencelook:

I think its called bench flashing....and from what i gather older cars with out obd2 need this route so do newer cars with anti tune...
If you doing it with someone with the tech know how and experience then i dont see any probs

If it were my car here is what I would have done:

For an NA car I would use Chiplogic and for a turbo car I would go with Burgy. LZ's 530d is mapped by them and made something like 700nm on the last dyno day.

The tuning and modding scene is very fascinating. We are really fortunate to have so many options for BMWs

Was just digging at you bud, no offense intended and non taken :=):

I suppose my choice of Xcede is biased as i have never tried any other tuner. I am sure the service and quality from Project Shift, Promotec, etc will be excellent but my experience with Xcede makes deciding on a tuner easy as pie. Not only do i get preferential treatment but i have sent many customer to them, all are more than just satisfied. I, personally have had over 6 cars done by them and not just software. They have done hardware on at least 4 of the 6 cars and heck, sometimes they even replaced brake pads without me even asking.

I suppose, at the end of the day, any human would go back to where they received service that they deserved as a customer.

Apart from that, at the Project Shift dyno day, Xcede had the strongest SOFTWARE ONLY 135i...

My 330d had a massive jump in power with just software and many guys where there to witness it. Xcede did not hide and do any funny tricks. Lots of guys saw my car go on the dyno, come off, get mapped and then back on the dyno. No adaptation, Nada! The results speak for themselves...

The Xcede JHB team are always willing to help and are not shy to go out of there way. They strive to break records and i have seen it, they will drive 900km to an event, race the car and drive back. Doesn't this just say that is reliability factor is saved? There work is excellent, they wont just fit an exhaust to your car, lots of R&D is involved and patience is required. Just one example, when they did my bru in laws 4 pipe, they had the car for over 2 weeks, building systems, testing, logging, countless dyno's. That is a tuner in my eyes...

As i said, i have never had any experienced with other tuners, this is just my personal experience.

Yes, some guys do get the burnt end of the stick. It happens in any business, bad days do occur!

jb4 gets my vote for so many reasons

1) tons of features
2) easy install / uninstall
3) piggy back so once removed very hard to prove it was in
4) exceptional performance
5) exceptional after sales service and support from Renzzport
6) exceptional prompt support from Terry himself at Burger
7) did i mention performance :)
8) have had this on my car for ages now and the car puts a smile on my face all day every day

Those are the important ones I can think of for now.
