Option 3 for me

If your budget is allowing eliminate option 1 and debate between 2 and 3, for motor-plan and year model value

I traded my e90 320d lci for the X1 2.8i and i also have the 125, both the X1 and 125 have the n20 motor mated with 8apd auto boxes.

If its strictly after fuel consumption you looking for then yes the 320d, the n20 with a slightly higher consumption is a better car to drive imho.

I rate, test drive both amd decide from from there.

I average mid 8l/100 kms on both my n20's.

:roflol::roflol: Nice one.

I saw a 2012 320D M-Sport auto on Carfind now for a good price.

Is there a difference between 2012 and 2013 models?

i would personally go 328i, As much as I do love diesel cars there is still nothing quite like the sound of winding up a good petrol motor.

Bmw dropped me off the other day in a 320d and not sure if anyone else will agree with me but I found the engine very noisy at idle and low revs.

I would go with the 328 as well. I agree the diesel are abit noisy

My 330d is damn loud. They are both good cars, I havent driven then new 320d but I have driven the 328i and a 125i, both are nice cars. It all comes down to you though and what you want the car for. Just go test drive them.

I have driven the new 320d and its pretty quick, power is smooth and linear! But personally I would take a 328i over it or a 125i

Just something to throw out there: I picked up my 2012 F30 320D M-Sport for 359 OTR, it was advertised at 379. I was shopping around for about 2 months though, so patience definitely worked in my favour.

There were 2 in JHB at this price point from official BMW dealers (1 white, 1 black, both with 33k km on the clocks) when I purchased. I chose the white one.

I bought mine from Bruma Auto.

The black one was at Club Motors Randburg... and it seems to still be available at 339???

I'm not sure why this hasn't been sold yet, as I don't recall there being any comments on the vehicle. One thing that isn't mentioned: both the bonnet and the front bumper have that plastic stick protection stuff. Also the windscreen trim looks like someone has taken a key to it, so don't know what the deal is there. Maybe a badly done replacement?

There was another white one that sold a week prior at BMW Midrand for 360.

My point is, they're available at your price point. You just need to camp out on autotrader for a bit :).
