Hi All

Apologies for the Noob question, but the X3 3.0D showed "Low Coolant Level" Warning this morning.

So to keep things short, what Coolant do I need to go buy? Do I need to go to BMW itself, or do I go to NASCAR/Midas and ask for anything specifically?

Regards

Hi bud

I would recommend sticking to BMW coolant.

When last have you had a coolant flush? If not in a while might be a good idea to get it done now and maybe also check how the level dropped.

Thanks Bud.

I took delivery of the vehicle in June 2023. Had a normal Oil Service in November 2023, so no Coolant Flush as far as I am aware.
I will first-off then just Top-Up the fluid with OEM coolant to keep me moving, and will then see when it makes sense to do a full coolant flush.

bmw does not charge a lot for a coolant flush - its around R500 iirc.

When i bought my secondhand 2011 F25 X3 3l diesel some five/six years ago it had about 130k kms on the odo. When i drove home from Stellenbosch to Hermanus with it the day i bought it, the coolant light came on. Stopped and had a look but could see coolant in the bottle. Now, about a year ago my son had some issues with the same car which was passed on to him. It was discovered that the reservoir bottle was leaking on the bottom and had with all the years of slow leaks gunked up around the fitting at the bottom of the reservoir. My point is, check the bottom of the reservoir on your car for maybe a similar problem??

Thanks, will definitely double-check the coolant tank.
