Where to source: Osram Nightbreaker Plus in HB3/HB4?

The subject actually says it all: where do one source Osram Nightbreaker Plus with the HB3 and HB4 fittings for my E39, preferably in the Cape region? Diesel Electric is apparently the agent for all Osram car lamps, but the local branch doesn't know about it. Thank you.

Have you tried Midas? Strange that Diesel Electric couldn't help...

Tried them now. They have nothing with HB3 or HB4 fittings. Is this where I snip my fittings and replace them with something else?

you will find the bulbs some place... fitting another bulb wont work properly because the reflector bowl was made for the way the bulb puts out light...

Check Osrams site for a list of the available sizes. Maybe they don't make NB+ in that size.

I got the fittings from the Osram web site, via that app thingie they have, and confirmed by looking at the bulbs. It seems models up to 2000/08 have HB3 for high beam. Anything after that have H7, which I believe is freely available. Just my luck...

Not a popular size, so I guess the local guys don't bother with stock on them :thumbdo:

@pi328 Have you used Night breakers+ before, I have found that the Osram Silverstars work excellent in all kinds of weather conditions, with the Night Breakers, I find that in some weather conditions the night breakers actually do not work that efficiently as they should eg In Mist the light seems to reflect of the mist making the depth of view much shorter, and in rain in conjunction with some road surface colours the light seems to dissipate and you have to concentrate to see the road properly, but this is my experience with them.

@Beast_Power: I have Night breakers on my 328i, so I want to pop them into the M5 as well. Silverstar is only available in H7, not HB3.

@Philip Foglar: I seem to have Philips in there at present. Was hoping to find something with a bit more light.

What about HID, Changed the E34 540i To Hid and is better than any globe ! Have a contact so will find out pricing for you, you want to do the fogs, and dims ?

Low beam is on Xenon already, so it would be cool to convert the rest to Xenon / HID as well, assuming it's possible. Other option is to upgrade to the facelift clusters, but I have a hunch it's going to be expensive from the stealers. I've found some Hella clusters as well, which doesn't look too bad on their website.

What bulbs does your E36 take? I want those Osram Nightbreaker Plus' for mine. Sorry for the hijacking...

If memory serves, they're all H1 fittings: low beam, high beam and fog lights.

If you upgrade high beams to HID you will have issues when trying to flash people as the bulb needs time to get to its max output.

What about LED for the spots? :dunno: :)

Doesn't sound right

Not really sure what the range and brightness of LED would be in terms of fog lights? Suppose it doesn't have to reach that far?

I've checked my model on the Osram web site: low and high beam is H7 (dual pole), and fog is H1 (single pole). However, on my car they're all H1! So maybe double check before you buy the bulbs. :)
