After reading a few posts here and there,I am a bit worried about my swirl flaps coming loose and causing a lot of damage. Where can I find the blanking plates for a pre-Lci e90 330d locally?

Not sure locally, but I see it on ebay and online sites,
I actually found a site called wish that has it also, and very very cheap,
I ordered some other stuff from there, waiting to see if I get it,

if I do, then maybe when I order, I can order for us both,

if you however find somewhere locally that does have it reasonably priced let me know.

lastly are you going to change them yourself or get someone to change them for you.

I would definitely be keen on ordering it with you from Wish. I spoke to a few people that have used wish before and they all got the stuff they ordered,it just took about a month to arrive.

I think I might tackle the job myself,it doesn't seem too difficult.
Let's hope someone maybe knows of a place that sells them locally, that would be ideal, because shipment from ebay etc. takes quite some time.

Agreed shipping takes a whole long time lol,

If you interested I would like to do mine as well, maybe we can both do it together, I don't mind driving and I have my own tools etc,

Im just not all that clued up with these things,

I used screws that were big enough to block the hole where the shaft went through then sealed it off with q bond. 4 years later and its still holding vas.

Just checked on Wish now, its about R360 with delivery,
estimated delivery middle October, so basically 2 months to ship.

I saw a link on Ebay with a similar price but less than a month shipment,I will just need to do a bit more homework on which size to order for my car. We can definitely do the job together, then I do not have to swear alone:rollsmile:

Dude. the only time you see it is when you remove the manifold. I recently had the manifold removed to replace the oil cooler. I checked them and all still perfect.

Hey man,

I done the swirl flap delete on my pre-lci 330d. Swirl Flap blanking plates with gaskets can be bought from BimmerTune on ebay (plastic or metal - the plastic is cheaper). I ordered mine through Scott's Shipping Services and waited around 3 weeks from paying him to it being delivered to my work (they came from Lithuania).

My car is at 193 xxxk's and when I took mine out they looked fine. I doubt they would have failed to be honest. There wasn't play or anything, plus our cars have the upgraded flaps. The ones on the E46's/E39's are an issue but not so much on ours. Having said that, if you plan on keeping the car for long and considering how cheap it is and the peace of mind it gives I'd recommend doing it. Just remember there's two sizes, 22mm and 33mm - the E90's use the 33mm blanking plates.

DIY it man, it's not difficult. The most difficult thing for me was getting a bolt from the back of the motor that I dropped.

There's tons of info/ vids on youtube to help you if you get stuck as well.

A fanatic was selling his set of blanking plates on here recently, after discovering that his car did not have the flaps.

He mentioned that he bought his from here:https://x8r.co.uk/products/bmw/bmw-swirl-flap-blanking-kits

Might be a safer option compared to Ebay and Wish. But mainly they do have an option of fast delivery.

I have not bought from them myself, but just thought I would add this info

Have purchased from x8r before, impressed with the quality of the parts and service.
